Grandmother Convicted Of Selling Marijuana

Apparently, you're never too old to get busted for selling pot.

The Telegraph reports that 74-year-old great-grandma Noelene Edwards has been convicted of selling marijuana in Sydney, Australia, after she was arrested for having "a mound of individual-packed drug sachets in her handbag."

Edwards told the court she had no idea how the drugs got in her bag. But the judge didn't buy it, sentencing her to a two-year good behavior bond.

Apparently, a police dog alerted officers to the scent of marijuana while Edwards was walking down a street in Sydney last June, the Telegraph previously reported.

Police then searched the senior citizen's bag and found the sacks of marijuana which, police say, Edwards suggested could have belonged to her son or his friends.

It is illegal to use, possess, grow or sell cannabis in Australia, according to the National Cannabis Prevention and Information Centre.

But grandmothers in Australia aren't the only elderly citizens being prosecuted for pot. A Uniontown, Pa., grandma was busted for growing cannabis last month. The woman claimed she had been tricked into growing marijuana by a bearded stranger.

Pot prohibition is a crime against humanity.

Used by the rich to sell Nylon, to attack black jazz musicians after our white women, and to successfully destroy the world greatest peaceful new culture: the Hippies.

Pot prohibition gave us asset seizures, invasive drugs testing, and fat rich politicians who hypocritically do pot but still insist you got to prison and lose everything if you do.

We have destroyed populations, invaded countries supported tyrants, now imprison more folks than any other country and corrupted the police and the CIA.

Pot smoking prevents cancer, Alzheimers, improves memory, counter depression, encourages compassion, and a curiousness about how the world works and has never killed a single person.

Our founders used it. Our best creative geniuses, used it.

Compared to alcohol, tobacco and many prescription drugs, its no contest, pot good, rest bad.

Vote for the Kucinich, Grayson, Warren, CPC progressives in the primaries and the dems and Obama, hypocrite though he has been, in the general.

The AMA should be made to create a list of all the drugs legally in use
in this country -- prescription included -- and assign a degree of danger
number between 1-10 to every one of them.

I don't know where marijuana would fall in the scheme of things, but
the worst it could place is same as whatever is the very worst drug
(say, a 10, along with all other drugs that are 10s and also legal),
and it would more than likely place as a 3 or 4.

What's the big deal?  I don't get it.  We can drive cars, go to work,
talk on the phone, be the CEO, be a fighter pilot or even be the
president of the United States and be on drugs ranked 10 -- but
we can't smoke a common weed rank at 3 or 4?

So granny does a little prison time..... kind of like welfare, isn't it? Living on the taxpayer funds. Good free medical/dental care. Meet some new and interesting people. Maybe I'll consider that my retirement plan.

Free thinking with a devil-may-care attitude was once what made the united states great! Now the world mimics our worst examples!

Police just walk around with drug dogs in the streets? No probable cause except granny taking a walk?

Yep. NYPD has a new toy that they can point randomly into a crowd to check for weapons. No care for privacy, probable cause or even safety. It emits radiation, but who cares if it takes an armed person off the street right?

While the governments of the world supply each other with guns and munitions to fuel wars to kill each other off it seems ironic that they make such a big deal over marijuana. All 5 permanent members of the United nations are trafficking weapons world wide for profit-and oddly enough-in the USA tobacco giant Winston-Salem has legally grown pot for over 40 years for the Govt for "research" as well as the University of Mississippi where they have over 1400 acres of pot growing. Its ok for our govts to be involved in crimes but if you have pot-its off to jail you go!
