Man Found Dead After Shots Heard Near National Mall

A man was killed on Sunday morning after shots were heard near the National Mall, NBC Washington reports.

WTOP reports U.S. Park Police found a man dead in West Potomac Park, near the Lincoln Memorial, after receiving several calls reporting a shooting in the area.

The investigation has been handed over to D.C. Police, the AP reports.

David Schlosser, a spokesman for the U.S. Park Police, told the Huffington Post, "This is a death investigation. All death investigations in DC are handled by Metropolitan PD."

Several streets in the area have been closed off in light of the investigation.

He was not found near the National Mall he was found on what is considered the National Mall. He was found adjacent to the MLK Memorial along side the curbside parking area. It appears it was a suicide.

So you have more knowledge of the location of the body so maybe you should go to the DC police department and correct them and offer your services because of your superior knowledge of the situation. It says nothing of being located adjacent to the MLK Memorial.

I know of a couple of suicides that involved two shots (from an automatic),
but not multiple gunshots.
