'Grey's Anatomy' And 'Private Practice' Crossover Episode: Sara Ramirez Gives Preview On 'The View' (VIDEO)

Two weeks after the "Grey's Anatomy" alternate reality episode, series creator Shonda Rhimes has another special "Grey's" episode planned for Thursday night: a crossover episode with her other medical drama, "Private Practice."

"Grey's" star Sara Ramirez stopped by "The View" (weekdays on ABC) to preview the crossover. "Amelia Shepherd, Derek's sister, is going to be coming over to enlist Derek to help save a life. Cristina and Owen enter couples' therapy, so that's going to be very interesting. The oral boards are coming up for the residents, so Meredith and Callie work together on a case that involves a meat grinder," Ramirez reported to gasps from the panel.

Whoopi Goldberg went on to compliment Ramirez on "Grey's" recent "If/Then" episode. "I thought it was really beautifully done," she said, prompting Ramirez to discuss it further. "Kate Walsh came back, and some of us were paired up with different people," the actress explained. "Callie was with Owen with children. The actors, we have fun when we get to do different hair and makeup and clothes. In a sense, you're almost playing a different character."
