Jared Allred, Blogger Behind 'Crimes Of Fashion,' Reveals His Hidden Talent (PHOTOS)

'Crimes Of Fashion' Blogger Revelas Hidden Talent

We are pleased to introduce Jared Allred, a Texas native whose blog, Crimes Of Fashion, was inspired by a holiday shopping trip with his mom in Dallas. He came across a window display at Neiman Marcus with a girl behind bars in the latest Versace collection, and it read "If fashion is a crime, then consider me guilty". He loved the concept and the rest is history.

What's your one fashion regret?
A few years back I went through a phase of really ugly-washed denim. It seemed awesome at the time, but now I look back and realize I looked like the lead singer of Guns N' Roses.

Who influences your style?
Not only am I inspired by the modern-day muses of the fashion industry, but I'm also fascinated by inanimate objects and places I've been. I take in more of a cultural influence from the world around me rather then someone physically influencing me.

Do you have any hidden talents?
Being able to get dressed in under 30 minutes. This includes prep and still look completely put together. Any obsessed fashionista knows how hard it can be to get dressed in the morning, so that's a talent in itself!

If you could shop at one store for the rest of your life what would it be?
Probably Luisa Via Roma in Italy. They always have the latest, greatest and most sought after ready-to-wear pieces almost immediately after they are shown.

Who are your favorite designers?
This is always such a hard question, with so much emerging talent popping up every year, it's nearly impossible to narrow it down to a few. But I will say I'm really into Celine lately. I'll always love the classics of Givenchy, Versace, Balenciaga, YSL and Alexander McQueen. I'm also keeping close tabs on new designers from Scandinavian regions like Stockholm, Copenhagen and Zurich. Recently, I've had a full-blown obsession with recent Rick Owens, Thierry Mugler, and Damir Doma.

What are the five essentials in your closet?
A pair of basic black leather wedges, a structured pant, printed button-up shirts, a fitted trench (preferably my Burberry Prorsum navy mesh one) and anything knitted. I love texture.

Who takes your photographs?
A mixture of my good friends who study photography at Parsons the New School for Design and timed photos I take myself. I would seriously avoid asking a stranger to photograph me at all costs. I hate the awkward introduction, especially in NYC!

Why did you start your blog?
Because I wanted to keep a daily diary of my life devoted to fashion -- from what I was wearing, to what I was doing and seeing. It's like a little scrapbook that started slowly getting noticed so I blew it up.

Do you read any other blogs?
My usual blog roll consists of Garbage Dress, 5 Inch And Up, BryanBoy, FashionToast, The Man Repeller, Street Peeper, Jak & Jil, Sea of Shoes, Susie Bubble, A Shaded View On Fashion, Bleach Black, Kate Loves Me, Atrumludus, Dirty Flaws, Style Rookie, Advanced Style, and Idiosyncratic Fashionistas.

What are your interests aside from blogging?
I love music, art, photography, traveling and anything creative. I think artistic movements of any sort are crucial to our generation. There is an energy present during these events that can't be replaced.

What is your beauty routine?
Pretty simple. Wash my face two times per day, moisturize and exfoliate. I try to keep my skin looking youthful while I can still control it. I keep a healthy diet, and try to exercise at least once a week. Running is a great way for me to relax and stay fit at the same time.

Which beauty products can you not live without?
Can't live without my black volcanic ash facial bar, La Derma eye cream, MK emollient night cream and Aveda's Be Curly product line for my long locks.

What are your tips for aspiring bloggers?
Don't follow the hype and do what's natural for you. You'll go a lot further on your own two feet then riding along someone else's coattail.

Describe your perfect outfit.
Givenchy head-to-toe, end of story.
