MTV's 'I Just Want My Pants Back' Becomes New Target For PTC

Ptc Targets Mtv I Just Want My Pants Back

The Parents Television Council is going after MTV once again, and this time for their new scripted series "I Just Want My Pants Back," based off David J. Rosen's novel off the same name.

"Pants Back" is a semi-raunchy relationship comedy about young post-graduates in their twenties, living in Brooklyn, NY. According to the PTC, it's going after the show’s sponsors because MTV is targeting 12-year-old children with the show’s racy content.

“Once again MTV is taking HBO-style content and marketing it to a Nickelodeon-age audience,” said PTC president Tim Winter, as reported by EW.com. “The network programming executive is on the record saying 12-year-olds are in his crosshairs. And the TV-14 content rating is intentionally misleading for parents and for advertisers. The Parents Television Council will not sit silently and allow this affront to go unchallenged.”

But that's not all. Winter then goes on to warn parents -- and MTV's advertisers -- of the kind of materiel "Pants Back" is exposing to children.

“All of MTV’s advertisers, including Dr. Pepper, T-Mobile and Toyota, will be asked if foursomes and a woman who tells her sexual partner to ‘stick a finger in my a--' are an accurate reflection of their hard-earned corporate brands,” Winter said. “Parents need to be warned about MTV’s stated intention to target children as young as 12 with this explicit material.”

While, MTV's target demo is indeed 12 to 34, not every MTV show is aimed toward the younger end of the network’s demo. Not to mention that "Pants Back" airs at 11 p.m. EST on Thursdays, after the network's other controversial show, "Jersey Shore." Edited episodes of "Pants Back" do re-air during the day, but the daytime re-airs have been edited to take the more racy content out.

Last season, the PTC went after MTV’s ill-fated remake of the UK's "Skins," which had similar raunchy content and dialogue. That specific program, however, was about high school-aged teenagers, and the PTC had a better argument for it's sponsors.

Oh please, clean up America? There are worse things happening in the world than some "racy content" being aired by MTV. If it bothers you so much, don't watch it. It's really not that hard. Also you you didn't spell poisons right.

MTV posions the minds of those who watch it. It is raw sewage propaganda. MTV needs to be removed from the air and off our tv"s. Clean up America. Stop MTV now. God Bless America.

The PTC wouldn't have problems if parents spent their time, instead of trying to censor everything, talking to their kids and taking responsibility for them.

Just don't watch it then...Set your parental controls, problem solved....If these PTC people would worry about important things like bullying childer/teacher sex, drugs.....And take a look at themselves in the mirror a few times maybe they could do some good

I for one believe sex should be like it was in the 60's DIRTY. That way we learned what we needed to protect out kids from later in our lives. Gee people isn't there a better cause for all your complaints other than what is on at 11:00. It is no wonder why so many kids are screwed up from overly protective parents. Go ahead and make your kid a dweebe and see how they fare in the real world. Better yet listen to what your kids are really doing and saying when your not around. You will find out you are trying to protect them from things they learned in school at age 5-10. Grow up yourselves and get a life instead of trying to run other's lives.

MTV should not be blamed for this. Parents need to take a more active role in what their children are watching. It airs at 11 pm my 12 year old is in bed at that time.

Another idea would be to turn the channel anyone ever think of that. No one is forcing these kids to watch this show.

Parents just want to be able to sit their kids in front of the television and say watch tv but then they don't monitor what they watch and when they find them watching something they don't like they blame someone else.

It has a TV-14 rating and airs late at night, you know, when your kids should be asleep.

Instead of getting another show canceled because of your over-protectiveness, why don't you do your jobs as parents and control what your kids are watching, if you don't want them to see it? Block the channel, give them a bedtime, do SOMETHING!

PTC has already taken away Skins (even though the original is still the best, the U.S. version was okay), don't do this again.

Here, Here!! If a show is on late at night, the content should not have child proofed. There are times I want to see things other than Barney on TV!!

MTV should do something to tell parents that it may not be suitable for 12 year-olds. If only there were some sort of rating system, like TV-14 to tell the parents that the content might be too mature for some children under 14...

If you are a parent shouldnt you know what is suitable for your child. Parents need to take responsibility and be a parent. There is an off button. I am tired of PTC council they encourage parents to be lazy and not monitor what your children is watching. I do not want to watch kid approved tv all the time or sanitized tv because parents do not know where the off button is.

It says "TV-14" what don't they get? If you don't want them watching it block the darn channel or make sure that they don't get to watch it.

It's all about "dumbing down". The stupider, the better. These half (if that) witted parents wonder
how the wheels fell off, when their kids grow up with little on no value system. Watching all this crap
tends to have young minds think all this is normal behavior

here's an idea.. if you don't want to watch it.....DON'T!!! wow..what a concept!! and if you don't want your kids watching it...DON'T LET THEM!!!! another concept that seems to be too much for most people..

The show's producers have to respond. They can't act like everything's ok.

TV is certainly to blame for a lot of what is going on today....BUT have any of you adults ever listened to the conversations going on between kids 10-17....every other word starts with F.....They have no respect for themselves or each other....At 70 yrs old....I asked a kid in a store one day if it was possible to speak 10 words without cursing...RESPONSE: told me to go home and F my old lady if I could still get it up....I had all to do to control myself from slapping HER into next month...So much for todays youth.....

In that situation, I have taken the kid to the parent and let them know or i have called the police and had them removed form the stores. TV is only to blame if you dont parent. The lack of instruction and control is what makes kids what they are .We have a generation of parents that are too lazy to raise their kids. Be in control of what goes on in your home. I would not let my kid watch videos all day or Jerry Springer. She liked the drama and tried to emulate the behavior. Turn it on , lose your privileges. I parented. Dont want to be bothered, dont have children. This is the laziest generation of parents I have ever seen and I am only in my 40s. It is sad. I talked with my child not to her. I was not her friend, I was her parent. I watch DR Phil and supernanny. The parents on there should be embarrased. THey are afraid their kids wont like them or will be mad. There will be times they dont like you. Its not a popularity contest. There are times you wont like them. I am old school, i dont care if you like me, but you better respect me.

Face it...The Media, TV, and Hollywood All bow and target everything to the brains of 12-15 year old girls whose taste changeds as often as Katy Perry's hair color. Pathetic attempt to gain sponsors..this is all about making money..no one has ANY interest anymore in 'standards and practices"..you couldn't show Jeannie's navel in the 60's..now...that's th only part they would leave covered....cheer up...as Dylan said "Toleration of the unacceptable leads to the last round up".
