NYC's 'Condom Finder' App's Valentine's Upgrade: Now Compatible With Windows, Blackberry

Need A Free Condom In NYC? There's An App For That

It's not just Valentine's Day, New York. it's also National Condom Awareness Day (maybe we'll see the Condom Cupid today?) and the city's "Condom Finder" app, originally developed by the department of Health only for Android and Apple iPhones, gets an upgrade today, making it compatible with both Windows and Blackberry phones.

According to the press release:

The application allows users to determine their location through either global positioning system (GPS) technology on their smartphone or by manually entering an address. The application also provides specific directions to each venue (the user can choose from walking, driving or public transportation directions), the hours of operation for each location, the types of safer sex products available and helpful tips on condom usage. With almost 1,000 condom distribution locations throughout the five boroughs currently accessible through the mobile app, New Yorkers will find that no matter where they are, they can always be protected from sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV, and unintended pregnancy.

Interested? Search "NYC Condom" in Android Market or the iPhone App Store, or check out the NYC Condom Facebook page, which also has info on how to download the app.

The app has been downloaded 25,000 times since its inception last year, CBS News reports.

NYC Condoms were the first municipally-branded condom in the country. And although packaged as a NYC Condom, the condom itself is a men's lubricated Lifestyle condom.
