best thing about post divorce holidays in general... not having to deal with the endless phony crises and the in-laws from hell.

peace and quiet is highly under-rated.

I buy a box of Sees candies and don't have to share with anybody !!! He used to get me crappy Russell Stover , and eat the best ones , usually when I wasn't looking .

or the gifts that screamed, "i got this at the drugstore because it was cheap and i don't want to waste time thinking about something you might actually want."

flip side, now i don't have to waste the time i spent searching for and buying something that was really wanted.

This was my first Valentine's Day without an "other" in 5 years and it was also by far the best, I no longer have to deal with the little woman 24/7. Being able to see her once a week has been a blessing. She still tries to get me to argue and take the bait (which I gladly did in the beginning - sorry...) but it's a whole new year and I'm getting better all the time (Beatle reference.) Funny how if you give yourself enough time to grieve for the dream reality will set in and you can find balance. As John once said, "I still believe in love." Or was it life is what happens when you're busy making other plans???

Every year is a good year. Not having a significant other allows me to skip this day entirely. This is one day that isn't 't taking money from my pocket. False hopes and idle promises don't cloud my mind.

True story. Haven't had a bad Valentine's day since being single. :-) It's the absolute best ladies. Use the day to love and pamper yourselves. You deserve it.
