George Huguely Lied The Night Yeardley Love Died, Teammate Says

George Huguely lied about where he was the night his ex-girlfriend Yeardley Love died, a former teammate testified Wednesday at Huguely's murder trial.

Ken Clausen, a former University of Virginia lacrosse player, says he saw Huguely return home after midnight on May 3, 2010, and asked him where he had been, The Washington Post reports.

Clausen said that Huguely, now 24, said he'd been downstairs in an apartment of two other teammates.

Clausen questioned his friend's story when Huguely said that one of the downstairs neighbors was drunk, even though Clausen knew that person was working on a class paper, The Post says. Clausen said Huguely's roommate called the teammates who lived below them and was told that Huguely hadn't been there.

When Huguely first returned to his apartment, Clausen said he had a "blank stare" on his face and didn't answer when asked if something was wrong, The Associated Press says.

Several other teammates were called to the stand in Charlottesville today as the defense brought their case to a close, WINA reports.

Players from the UVA lacrosse squad said that Huguely regularly drank heavily, The Daily Progress reports. It's been reported that he was drunk for much of the day before he went to Love's apartment.

Prosecutors claim that Huguely went to Love's apartment, kicked her door open and got into a deadly fight with the 22-year-old woman. Huguely has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder and five other charges. His defense team has suggested that Love's death stemmed from an irregular heartbeat possibly triggered by a reaction to her Adderall medication and alcohol.

On Tuesday, the doctor who examined Love's body testified that blunt force trauma to her head killed her.

After Love was discovered bloodied and face down on her bed, police questioned Huguely in a taped interview. He told police that he shook her and may have grabbed her by the neck, but insisted that nothing he did could have seriously injured her.

She took Adderall and used alcohol with it. Adderall is a very dangerous drug. People that take it are more likely to bang their head when they get frustrated. They don't have that consequence trigger in their head that tells them they could seriously injure themselves. People who take medication for ADHD/ADD often do reckless things even when medicated. It is evident in their relationships. They don't live their lives normally. How could they? They often strike out against others in an act of violence too, so it goes both ways. He was probably not the only aggressive person in this relationship.

probably not, but if you're a jealous person, get freakin' help!.....there is not a POA worth going to jail over. She could be in full on bang mode with the entire team, and you dont need to sweat it. Just walk out. There are literally millions out there. No need to risk this result, over one!

hey listin bubbagumpy,they mentioned she was on medication and drinking.she could have fallen earlier and bruised herself.and been in a fog for a while.and the little pushing by the boy wasnt enough to do that kind of damage,plus kill her.and his friends that said he wasnt with them when he told the court he was,well they (the friends) were drunk,they didnt know where they were either.

The statement that Huguely made was that LOVE banged her own head on the wall. I work with chidren that have ADD/ADHD, and that is a common thing for them do to when they become frustrated or their brain becomes "overloaded".

Growing up in a home where my father was a true gentleman, I never knew that dangers of violence to women existed from their boyfriends and husbands as they do. I had heard a few stories, but never imagined it would happen to me. My ex-husband didn't exhibit these traits until after we were married. After receiving counseling, thankfully, I left him. Between the counseling I received and visiting with my ex-mother-in-law, I learned that generally when a man/woman exhibits this kind of behavior, they experienced it in their childhood. In my case, my ex-mother-in-law had been beaten by my ex-father-in-law. The family had always kept it a secret.

Rich, spoiled brats do not go into rehab. They are coddled. They get what they want and if they don't they can explode.I see it happen all the time. Nothing is too good for them. Years ago a coddled, spoiled brat fired at 3 school buses in our city. The police caught him but his parents hired lawyers, private detectives, etc. to fight to get him off. Even the judge stated she believed he did the shooting but his defense wore down one witness into stating they were not sure about the occurance. The boy got off. These rich people even had the neighborhood where they lived and where he did the firing named after the boy. Talk about being coddled. I know because I was one of the drivers he shot at.

OMG! I understand what you are talking about. Today, I witnessed a 3 year old boy wanting everything in the store. To control the boy, he bribed him with cookies to behave himself. What happened to strong discipline? Are we afraid to whup our children anymore? I have not witnessed as much murder as I have recently. This fella had to have been a bully in his earlier school years. He just didn't up and kill this girl. He has been doing things before now. He lied about his whereabouts so he has been a liar all of his life evidently. He didn't just up a tell a lie for the first time. This is so sad to see such potential die with the girl he killed.

He's got that Van Der Sloot look. At least they caught this guy after #1. Probably saved some other girls life by catching him early. Finally, the prison will get what they need, a college educated license plate maker. Hope he enjoys his new career.
