Kraftwerk To Perform Live Retrospective In 8 Parts At MOMA

Posted: Updated:

Electronic pioneers Kraftwerk emerged on the experimental music scene in the 1970s and radically changed how we view music and technology. Founded by Ralf Hutter and Florian Schneider in Germany, the group mixed robotic rhythms and catchy melodies, creating a new equation for sound and catalyzing musical movements like electronic and hip-hop.

The Museum of Modern Art is hosting a retrospective in honor of the electro quartet in April. Kraftwerk will give eight performances entitled "Kraftwerk-Retrospective 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8," each one dedicated to a different album, spanning from 1974-2003. Hutter will be the only original member of the group performing, however, so die-hard finds might be a tad disappointed. True to Kraftwerk's experimental nature, the concert will be 3D, with images projected throughout the performance.

The concerts will take place in the Donald B. and Catherine C. Marron Atrium at MoMA and will take place starting April 10th.
