Wendy Albano, American Businesswoman, Murdered In Thailand; Cops Seek Indian Boyfriend

First Posted: 02/16/2012 7:25 pm Updated: 02/17/2012 8:22 am

Police are looking for an Indian man who may have stabbed and strangled an American businesswoman to death in Bangkok, Thailand.

The body of Wendy Albano, 51, was found on the bathroom floor of her room at the Fraser Suites Hotel in Bangkok on Monday -- and cops are looking for an Indian man, reported to be her boyfriend, who was captured on a surveillance video, seen leaving her suite, according to ABC News.

Albano, of Florida, met the man during a previous business trip to India, where she tried to launch a fashion design business. They reportedly traveled to India together and then to Bangkok, where surveillance footage showed them entering the hotel room and the man leaving an hour later with luggage, according to The Miami Herald.

Her friend, Maxine Stull, asked Albano if she was scared of being in India "alone, so far from home." Albano said no.

Now friends and family -- including two daughters -- are looking for answers to her unsolved murder.

"She has such a fantastic soul that was always so loving," friend Denise Brown told Fox 13. "I'm devastated. It's a loss that I won't be able to really comprehend for some time because it was unnecessary."

By the way this type of thing happens everyday in America!! Doesn't matter the country be cautious no matter who it is and where you are. Make sure your family meets or sees someone you are dating and please leave as much information about them such as name, address, work place, others who know this person etc etc.

Sounds like she barely knew this guy. I fell sad for her family who is left behind to deal with this injustice of which her killer may never be found.

These women appear desperate. They will date and go anywhere with anyone. Stay away from these men.

Kind of sad, and a little scary to read as an interior designer. Don't intend on traveling to India alone though

Just don't date them or marry them.

Who?
02:30 PM on 02/18/2012
That guy owns a small grocery around the corner from us....not to worry, I'll call the cops on him and rat him out. They'll sweat the truth out of him. He has to be guilty of something.....he is an arrogant phck.....as are all of those coming from India. They look upon americans as an inferior race.....but if they are so superior, why are they in america, making money....couldn't they make any money in India? They are probably from the lowest caste system that India has and were kicked out of the country.

Your post made no sense whatsoever.

You must live in a bad neighborhood.

In the interest of justice, a picture of him from the surveilance film would add so much more to this story...I'm not Inspector Couseau, but I do play him here sometimes.

Very pretty woman! It's sad that she is gone! I hope they find this animal and put him away for good!

I do not care if the country was India or Africa, women should not travel alone, or at at least have a security plan. Try to find a traveling pal that you know, even if you have to help pay the bill. A woman traveling by herself, looking lonely, is an easy target to strangers who try to become your "friend," only to be looking for credit cards, cash, etc. It is the same thing in the U.S. Do not talk to strangers. I was sitting alone at a hotel bar one evening in Hawaii, when a strange attractive guy appeared out of nowhere and started talking to me. As soon as my husband appeared, the opportunistic jerk disappeared.

Africa is not a country.
02:32 PM on 02/18/2012
Ask any african american that and they will say you are wrong.....africa is a country. It's nonsense that you would even entertain the thought of it being a continent.

maybe he just thought you were attractive?

Wendy made a terrible mistake, by trusting someone that she barely knew, and unfortunately it cost Wendy her life ! She met him on a previous trip to India, and then traveled with him this time to India, and Banjkok, but how well did she actually know him ?? People are not always as they "appear to be", and that appears to be the situation here !!
12:20 PM on 02/17/2012
How do you know she didn't have a background check run on this fellow?

How many women actually have impromptu background checks done on men they meet? Especially business women traveling alone? The pariahs know this and use it to do there thing.

Sounds like she believed the movie "Eat, Pray, Love" was true to life. Don't know why women get sucked into these fantasies.

Ok, was she sexually assaulted? What do they think his motive might be? They know his name so they should have him in custody by now. You just can't trust anyone these days.

When will women, mostly white, ever learn?
11:05 AM on 02/17/2012
Unfortunately, I must agree. Although I am a person of color I know that the sensibilities of the Easten man, especially from India, are not like ours. India has a huge problem with wife burnings and although we have a rising problem of abusive and murderous husband/boyfriends, it pales in comparison to the problems in the East and Middle East. When I lived in Denmark there was a beautiful blond crying her eyes out every week because the Middle Eastern man she was foolish enough to marry had beaten her or worse stolen her kids that she would never see again. White women- Stop and THINK.
02:25 PM on 02/17/2012
Indian and Middle Eastern is not the same thing.
10:08 PM on 02/20/2012
I find it appalling that "a person of color" would have the gall to make such a racist statement. As for wife burning in India? It is called Sati, the Hindu tradition of a wife to throw herself on the funeral pyre of her dead husband. This practice was banned in 1829 by the British during their occupation of India. In remote parts of the country some women still do this of their own volition. Yes, Domestic Violence against women is a huge problem but it is also a world wide issue. Some men just believe it is acceptable to be physically violent to women regardless of his race or nationality. While i am not saying that no one burns their wife, it is not the "huge problem" in India that you state it is. Please do some research about other cultures and refrain from making uneducated and racist comments. Have a good night, Mojo

White or otherwise it's not safe for any women to travel alone!!!!!!!
12:21 PM on 02/17/2012
True without a doubt, but white women seem to be more gullible.

I travel alone and travel smart and I've never trusted strangers.

Right on..until it turns on in your luggage and you spend a good deal of time with the TSA and all the staff is laughing their a** off behind the glass!! Try explaining that in a foreign country. If you take it with you make sure you take the batteries out and don't travel to countries with" religious police" LOL
