Fire At Anacostia Senior High School (UPDATE)

WASHINGTON-- A blaze at Anacostia High School has already injured one firefighter.

Students have been evacuated from the school.

Tweets from the local fire station feed indicate that fire spans from the first floor up to the roof.

U/D 1601 16th St. SE - E15 reports a large volume of roofing material is on fire.

Pictures from twitter indicate a dark tall plume of smoke. WUSA 9 notes that the fire is visible from miles away.

Currently, local fire officials say that the fire is being reignited by winds along the roof. News of the fire emerged on twitter more than 45 minutes ago.

Update:

UPDATED: 3:35 p.m. -- A tweet from D.C. Public Schools confirms the fire has been contained.


DC Public Schools
The roof at Anacostia HS caught on fire. Students were immediately evacuated and all students are safe. DC FEMS have contained the fire.
