Sean Avery's Mesmerizing Animal Sculptures Made From CD Fragments (PHOTOS)

Welcome to the CD menagerie. Sean Avery rendered the animal kingdom out of shattered compact discs!

These old-fangled, music-storing devices were always privileged over iPod technology for their physicality, but the critters in the slideshow below take that argument to new heights. The CD fragments' sharp edges and iridescent glow make for the perfect untapped resource. And who knew CDs came in such diverse and eye-catching colors?

Check out Sean's sharp and shiny circle of life and let us know what you think in the comments section.

This is so interesting......about 2 years ago I made an egret out of 300 lb. watercolor paper that I cut just as Mr. Avery cut his CDs. Just goes to show you that once something is out in the Universal Consciousness we can all pluck it out and enjoy it. Very nice work Mr. Avery!! ( I LOVE the hummingbird!)

Fantastic and creative. It's disheartening that artists like this have a hard time selling their work to get by, yet the Cy Twomblys of the world are (were in his case) millionaires.

I want one so bad, one of the bird ones would be just lovely in my house or on my porch to look at between swinging on the chair swing or as I'm flipping through pages in my novels.
