'Swamp People': Gator Hunter Jumps Over A Levee In His Boat (VIDEO)

First Posted: 02/17/2012 6:58 am Updated: 04/18/2012 5:12 am

Alligator hunter Troy Landry was on the trail of a gator gold rush in the swamp on "Swamp People" (Thu., 9 p.m. EST on History) when he found access to his "honey hole" was blocked by a levee.

So what's a gator hunter to do? Troy decided to go all "Dukes Of Hazzard" on the honey hole and try something dangerous. He decided to jump the levee in his boat.

With Clint acting as spotter, Troy lined up his boat, gunned the engine and then roared toward the obstacle. Right at the last second, when it was too late to change his mind, he said "Oh my God, we might not make it!"

He made it, but afterward admitted that perhaps it wasn't such a great idea. "I should have left the stunts to the stunt people, and I should have stuck to catching alligators."

Catch up with the "Swamp People," Thursdays at 9 p.m. EST on History.

Yall can say what you want about the men on this show but I can guarantee you none of them have or will ever go hungry nor will their families or friends. Willie may not be the brightest crayon in the box but I bet if anyone was ever in his area and in trouble he would not stand by and watch and to me that is the kind of American's I want on my side. I would also bet even before the first show ever aired none of them were on government assistance.

That was a pretty good job by Troy. I wonder what he's going to do when he gets a boat load of gators in the boat. He's gonna play Hell getting that boat out of there loaded down with gators !!

they took the gators off the boat put them on the levy and he jumped it to get back.

Thanx for the heads up. I knew they had a plan but I didn't know what it was. How did they do in that Hot Spot ?

The show is great. I would never get that close to an alligator.

All made up for fun. If you notice at 18, you will see that there is an open water way to the left of the so called levi. Good for ratings I guess.

You've got to LOVE the Cajuns......not an ounce of "pretense"......what you see, is what you get. Want an example of the "pioneer spirit"? Go to the Louisiana Bayou and talk to a Cajun. They are a modern day example of what made America great. No one deserves the success these folks are experiencing more than they.........I hope this show has a good LONG RUN.

I did my Basic Training & AIT at beautiful Fort Polk, LA..., Tiger Land..., loved the people..., loved the culture..., especially loved the food..., took my wife there, New Orleans not Fort Polk, on our honeymoon..., the people are hardworking..., adventuresome..., fearless..., a throwback to our heritage in this country..., but, do not underestimate them.., they are shrewd business people..., now ol' Troy probably didn't need to jump that little levee..., but he's fearless..., and look what it will do for the ratings..., ratings = money..., yea yea yea yea..., tres bien, Troy, tres bien..., oh, man..., I still miss those big old mud bugs...., dem tangs is g-o-o-o-d eatin'...., I garontee-e-e...,

I know plenty of people that are extremely intelligent but not necessarily educated to the same degree some posters here seem to expect. It's easy to be disparaging when you've not met the people and talked to them face to face. I went to high school in south Louisiana - even though I was not born and raised there - and I went to school with people just like the ones on this show. Never underestimate someone simply because they don't fit your preconceived notions. You have absolutely no concept how difficult it is to navigate and hunt in the swamps. I've known cajuns that can read the swamp like you do a road map - they detect changes in the environment, however minute, and they can tell you what animals are around by the smells in the air. If there's ever a disaster in our country, I would predict that the cajuns may be the only ones that would survive... and cree1997, the father and son team you spoke of are native americans ... there are several reservations in Louisiana that very few outsiders are aware of ... it's one of the most interesting areas in our entire country, not only for the geographical anomalies but for the distinctive peoples who survive there: cajuns, native americans, creoles, carib, people of color, French, Spanish, Italians, and it's an absolute paradise for sportsmen, ergo the license plates' saying "sportsmans paradise".

Why did they not pick the boat up and carry it over the levy...not a very big boat....
02:40 PM on 02/20/2012
That motor weighs about 350 lbs. and the boat is about the same. To pick it up would take more than 2 people...

The levee jump was good, but Willie killing the gator with his pocket knife was pretty impressive

I did notice that Willie is doing the shootin' this season...., I guess he got tired of his daddy, Junior, shooting him from time to time..., eh..., bet Willie's momma was responsible for that change..., LOL

What were the rednecks last words? "Here, hold my beer and watch this!"

none of the people are very bright on the show. And they all look like a bunch of dirty rednecks. But it is an interesting show to say the least

Those people may be a lot more intelligent than you believe...they are making a pile of money from TV...
10:58 PM on 02/20/2012
actually Troy had a ton of money and companies before this show
11:22 AM on 02/20/2012
I actually envy those people. I came from pretty meager beginnings and grew up living in part off the land, on the back of a horse, and quite accustomed to honest work and earned pay. Now, after far too many years of college and a pile of student loans to prove it, I've become indentured to my debt or rather to those whom hold my debts. I think I'd rather live a simpler, stress free and health lifestyle far away from pollution and off the grid any day. Convenience and commercialization has become the norm at the expense of good ole family traditions.

'.....he found access to his "honey hole" was blocked by a levee.'

I always seem to find it blocked by a tight skirt and a chastity belt.
