With Fox airing a milestone 500th episode of "The Simpsons" this Sunday, it's no surprise that the Internet is teeming with Springfield nostalgia. On Friday, veteran 'Simpsons' writer Bill Oakley treated his Twitter followers to a list of 10 potential episodes that were pitched, discussed or written but never made it to air.

Loyal fans (and those of you who stopped watching after the 90s) will enjoy the list, which features such would-be classics as "Homer vs. Dr. Hibbert on the Issue of Race" by Greg Daniels, "Homer the Narcoleptic" by David X. Cohen and the number one choice, "Prince Comes to Springfield" by Conan O'Brien, which Oakley later tweeted had a complete script written by Conan before "Prince crapped out because he wanted to do a script written by a friend of his."

See all of Oakley's tweets below. The 500th episode of "The Simpsons" featuring WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange (see photo above for a sneak peek) airs this Sunday, Feb. 19 at 8:00 p.m. EST on Fox.

Put in some WWE wrestlers that would change the epics.

They'll never stop the Simpsons!
Have no fear, we've got stories for years,
Like...

Marge becomes a robot!
Maybe Moe gets a cell phone
Has Bart ever owned a bear?

How 'bout a crazy wedding?
Where something happens
And doo doo doo doo doo

Sorry for the clip show

Thirtysimpsons would have been great comedy but too much of a stretch for early Simpsons audiences.

Homer's $1,000 Suit would have been a good bookend to the episode on Marge's outlet store dress.

Have always loved watching the Simpsons, still do. But it looks like they made the right call on those.

I'll bet the narcolepsy one by David X. Cohen would have been good-- he's a funny guy. I also think that the one that sounds like Lisa was going to join a Scientology spoof could have been good... but I'll bet they'd have to make it without Bart (is Yeardly Smith a Scientologist, too? I was thinking that she is, but I'm not sure).

Comparing the Simpsons to Family Guy is like comparing the Mona Lisa to a punch in the face.

How about, "Guess Who's Coming to Springfield?" Matt Smith as The Doctor arrives in Springfield and with The Simpsons as his companions, foils an attempt to conquer the Earth by Kang and Kodos. There have been enough small Doctor Who jokes over the years. It's time for the real thing!

Lisa tries to become his companion. Bart, who has to "go", convinces the Doctor to use the Tardis to skip ahead to when Homer is out of the bathroom....they end up in something like 100,000 AD making periodic stops along the way to knock and have Homer yell "Just a second."

It could work :D

I think we can all agree that Prince SHOULD have come to Springfield.

Michael Jackson was a great episode, but Prince would have been epic.

Marge vs the Monorail is a classic

Marge spreads quite easily, apparently.
