While "Cowboy Dad" went too far with his retaliation - and that's what he did, not punishment - it is pretty obvious that he failed to teach his daughter respect, a work ethic, and also failed to create a close family or he wouldn't have found himself so desperate.

I raised three sons and 6 teens who belonged to others, so I figured simple was good. No drugs, no missing school, no getting arrested, if you worked you got a little junker car that my dad made pretty cool looking, and you did chores that you could trade off as long as they were done.

I expected them to be unhappy with me at times, I expected that they would spout off to their friends because that's normal (happened mostly with the one stepdaughter) and I didn't get all bent out of shape over it. If they had a problem I was supportive until they were proven out of line which didn't happen a lot.

That's not perfect parenting, I realize. But all this reaction does is alienate and make a child feel like he or she has no recourse and that's dangerous. Memories from childhood made me extremely reluctant to ever humiliate a child in front of anyone but particularly their friends, this was a private matter that should have stayed within the family.

Guys like this always wonder why their kids have "turned out disrespectful."
Judging by his slurred and repetitious speech, his creative film-making venture was aIcohol-enhanced.
I hope the situation doesn't escalate, 'cause he obviously thinks shooting stuff solves problems.

I cannot believe some of the stories I hear from parents, the 9 I raised weren't this bad and 6 of them weren't my biological children. Well, maybe the step daughter was pretty far out there....

Having raised 3 wonderful children myself (yes, they have their faults, but they are all loving, generous, well-educated, with great careers and spouses and have ALWAYS been respectful), I have also observed how some of their friends' parents were trying to "control" their kids when they were teens. In almost every case where there have been problem kids, it's because the parents don't know how to act like grown-ups. This father is still an adolescent. He no doubt tells his daughter not to smoke, while he does it on camera. He's just shown her that when you're angry, you shoot stuff.

And I know a drunk when I see one.

facebook dad, we might be hearing more about this guy. First he hacks into her account. Then he makes an a** of himself on Internet and intimidates with a gun. He should have been talking privately with his daughter.

If this is how children are being raised, then I understand why we have so manny lunatics like this guy walking the streets. The posting on facebook, was typical of a 15 year old and the father should have been able to put that in perspective and not get so bent out of shape. He totally lost his daughter and she probably will be afraid of man and need therapy for the rest of her life. She'll never be able to love her parents. This is what she'll see everytime she sees or or even think about her parents.
So, he says this is how he was raised. Well, that explains why he so fd up. Don't do the same to your child. The idea is to improve on the dna, not perpetuate it's flaws.
Shame on you, dude.
Please read a book called "Lucifer Effect" and try changing your self and become a better man. This is awful and I hope your other children are not learning to become jerks as well.
You distroyed a computer, probably worth over $1.000. You could have sold it and given the money to charity, or even given it to a poor child. That would have been a better lesson. Now you want your daughter to pay for the bullets?

WOW could cowboy daddy get anymore pyscho?? I like how he is sitting there smoking a cig while teaching his daughter a lesson. A real blow hard. It cracks me up that this guy and his wife are so ignorant as to not assume that they are ultimately responsible for the way their daughter acts. If the household had been healthy all these years she probably would not have learned such indignation and contempt. PLEASE PLEASE can we start issuing licenses to people in order to have children? Perhaps if they had to take even had to take a class or a test it would enough buffer that they would not have them. Run Hannah run.
