Emma Watson: Journalists Asked Me If I 'Was A Lesbian Now' After My Haircut

We've adored actress Emma Watson's cute pixie cut ever since she debuted it back in 2010, but that hasn't stopped some people from making some really nosy comments about it (right to Emma's face!).

Our friends at Styleite spotted this profile on the actress in the Independent, in which Emma dishes on her famous pixie cut.

We know Emma's always loved her short hair, as she said before: "I think it's made me more bold, there’s no way to hide when you have short hair."

And now the actress reveals that while she saw her hair as a bold style move, some people weren't shy about telling her exactly what they thought about it.

"I had journalists asking me if this meant I was coming out, if I was a lesbian now." She rolls her eyes. "That haircut did make me realise how subjective everyone's opinion is. Some people were crazy for it and some people just thought I'd lost my shit. All I can do is follow my instincts, because I'll never please everyone."

Here's to that!

But she continues to fight off the naysayers. The 21-year-old Oxford student, who's currently the face of Lancome, says her new hair has again given her a sense of boldness:

"As I've got older, and since I cut all my hair off, I've felt a bit more liberated about trying different things out."

Wow...getting a short haircut is now a scientific way to tell if someone is a lesbian. Just amazing how ignorant and stupid people are. It never ceases to amaze me what people will assume and think they know about someone. It could never possibly be that a woman could just be sick of their long hair. Emma Watson looks cute and chic with this cut...good for here for not buying into the BS. Well, if short hair makes women lesbians, then there are a Hell of a lot of them floating out there who are in heterosexual relationships and didn't get the memo.

Gee, any half wit could see that the haircut was meant as a dramatic departure from the school girl image of the Harry Potter Character. She's an adult, and chose an adult haircut. I would imagine the so called "journalists" were from the British Press, in which case they aren't journalists at all, they are sensationalizing, crass pigs without couth.

When a woman consciously makes herself less attractive it is only natural to assume she is coming out or is having some serious emotional issues. I still think there's something happening with her she's not letting out (pun intended). Unfortunately all 3 stars of the Harry Potter phenomenon have not emerged gracefully and/or "normally" from their sudden exposure to fame and fortune. Best of luck to them anyway.

To me it is a sign of growing up, to loose that shaggy look of your teens and go for a haircut which is perfect for her frame and features. She looks mature and I can see how it gives her more courage.
I have loved the hair cut from the beginning, it is so her.

This is too ridiculous to even comment about but I will anyway. If women with short hair have a high-lesbian quotient, does it follow that men with long hair are probably gay? Was Jesus gay? Are all men with shaved heads Buddhists? Did anyone ever ask Audry Hepburn if she was gay? I doubt it; people had more manners back then. And who would have the audacity to care in today's world except for the Tea Party contingent who are getting more Muslim by the minute where their women are concerned. Are they outlawing the Rhythm System as well? Stay tuned. Soon Palin will be wearing a veil over her pretty face and staying home to take care of her kiddos. Yeah, I have a painted picture of that.
