Presidents' Day 2012: Sarah Palin Releases Video

First Posted: 02/20/2012 1:59 pm Updated: 02/20/2012 1:59 pm

Sarah Palin celebrated Presidents' Day by releasing a video on the website of her political action committee, SarahPAC.com.

"We stand today at the symbolic crossroads of our nation's history, and all around us are monuments to those who have sustained us over the years in word or deed, the towering presence of the great emancipator who secured our union at the moment of its most perilous time," she says as images of monuments, presidents, Americana and herself appear on the screen.

"Abraham Lincoln once spoke of the mystic chords of memory stretching from every battlefield and patriot grave to every living heart and hearthstone all over this broad land," she continues. "For over 200 years those mystic chords have bound us in gratitude to those who are willing to sacrifice to restrain evil, to protect God-given liberty."

Palin goes on to call for enduring and restoring America. She posted the video along with this letter to supporters:

Celebrating George Washington’s birthday is an American tradition to honor our first president. Though Presidents’ Day is now the more commonly-used term, and has expanded to include all presidents, the legal term for this federal holiday remains Washington’s Birthday.

We honor President Washington, not because he was flawless; he was not. He was, however, the epitome of self-sacrifice--both as a soldier and a statesman. It was that sacrifice that helped make America what it was destined to become. We honor him because of what he accomplished and the manner in which he approached service to this nation: with a servant’s heart.

I am on record as acknowledging President Washington as my favorite Founder precisely because of that heart. He did not seek power. He accepted it reluctantly. He answered the call, offered himself up in the name of service, and helped to usher in a new day. At a time when he could have remained in office perpetually, as some expected, he chose to return to life as a citizen rather than seek a third term. He fulfilled his destiny, and his legacy is secure.

It is refreshing to reflect on one who was so far removed in spirit from the inside baseball that too often defines politics now. America celebrates President Washington for his decision to serve for the right reasons. Today, we could certainly use a little more Washington in DC and a little less BS in Washington.

Happy Presidents’ Day.

I thought it was the post-interview "interview tape" with the basketball player who talked about their evening together when she was a sports reporter.

Sarah continues her history lesson....

"George Washington, who never owned slaves, won the War of 1812 by licking the rebellious Confederates with semi-automatic weapons and hastily telephoned his wife with pride. With the brewing threat of Maoism, Martha and he retired to the state of Hawaii, flying the very first Air Force One. He died in 1975 and is buried near his dear son, Geo. Washington Carver."

Don't think so...but you have proven that without much prompting, an idiot will murmur some kind of drooling...even if no one cares.

When you see big stories like this, that Palin is attempting to use her commenator role to undermine the front-runner, while at the same time releasing these kinds of videos where she is clearly attempting to thwart the primary process in order so that she can hijack the nomination at the Republican convention, and then you realize that Fox News is IGNORING this story when it's IN THEIR FACE, is there any wonder why there is a facebook page called: Former Fox News Viewers for Romney. Is it any wonder why so many former viewers now boycott Fox and only watch CNN? Gee, I wonder why. Palin has destroyed the credibility of Fox just like she destroyed McCain.

You had best get to the nurses station for your mid-day...You are late. Do you have any other obsessions other than FOX and Palin?

For three plus years drones like you have been coming on this site with FOX references...everything that could possibly be said about FOX has to have been said, maybe a thousand times...and here YOU come with your feeble droolings and YOU actually believe you have cut new ground and horizons, don't you.
Go back to watch John Stewart and get your daily..."Moment of Zen"!!

You really do have a weak agenda...Your question: "Is it any wonder why so many former viewers now boycott Fox and only watch CNN?"
Answer: No one knows, why don't you tell us...You did count them, Yes.
LOL...Does anyone know of such a group called "former fox viewers"??? LMAO
This is your moment of Zen!!!! LOL

Uh, is she saying that she would faux-reluctantly step up to run against Obama? That's hilarious! Hey Sarah-- they didn't ask you because they don't want you. They've got enough problems already.

Sarah: 'cords' bind, not 'chords.' The chords Lincoln spoke of "will yet swell the chorus of the Union, when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature." It would be helpful toward that goal if you would step out of the way.

Anna: Before you attempt to correct others...it's a good idea to have your own act together and know at least something of which you are blathering about. For example..did you hear how Barry pronounces Corps as Marine Corpse, it's pronounced CORE, as in an apple; Not CORPSE as in a dead body? Or, my fave, How he signed the guest book at Westminster Abbey, as being the year 2008...IT WAS 2011!!!!! He was off by THREE YEARS!! Did you post about that or do you save all of your critiques for Palin?

FYI:
"Abraham Lincoln's first inaugural address was delivered by President Abraham Lincoln, on Monday, March 4, 1861, as part of his taking of the oath of office for his first term as the sixteenth President of the United States."

""Desperately wishing to avoid this terrible conflict, Lincoln closed the address with this impassioned plea:

"We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battlefield and patriot grave to every living heart and hearthstone all over this broad land, will yet swell the chorus of the Union, when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature."[3]

So...what, exactly, are you out to prove here? I'm familiar with Lincoln's inaugural addresses, so you didn't have anything to correct me on there. Further, President Obama's pronunciation of 'Core' also has nothing to do with anything I wrote. I suggest that you look up the word 'blathering' and check what you just wrote again. You pretty much illustrated the word perfectly.

Is that profile a real pic of her? (I'm not clicking the video, my neighbors put a restraining order on me after the last little 'incident' of having to listen to her)

If so, I'm curious of what some of her little GOP fanboys think of their wet dream now? At least the little woodland creatures have a place to nest for the winter.

O-razzor, I commented on two of your posts earlier today but it seems the so called moderators are targeting my posts. They are trying to force their agenda because it is too weak to stand up against the power of truth. I had one post that had been pulled and I edited it down to three or four words and they still refused it.
Pretty soon you will have a site that allows you to talk to each other and never have to worry about a point of view you do not share.
Safe and sound little drones.

The point of my post was how strange it was for you to take more than 12 minutes to compose four little snarky posts about Palin. What's so bad about that? I've seen many trashy posts that have been allowed.

They delete so many of my posts over nothing, I can't keep up. So to some degree, I guess I know how you feel. But trust me, if anyone feels a need to feel 'targeted' by some mods, it is me. I rewrite and rewrite and rewrite to no avail. Yet, then I see someone else getting through with outright vulgarity (nothing subtle at all). But mine get blocked. I have wondered if they had inadvertently hired some right wing tool, posing as, well, not one...so they could influence boards. So yeah, I get what you mean..I think.

I'll take the side note to say, I can easily type over 100 wpm, hence most of my errors, and speed. And does Palin deserve anything, but snark? You seriously want to defend...that*..? I'm game.

*Palin.

I am happy she has discovered the History Channel.

But I'll be damned if she couldn't help herself by twisting it all into a self serving manifesto. You go girl.

You know, butter is expensive, and I don't enjoy popcorn without it..so could you at least try to limit your tirades a bit? Thank you dear.

It took you FOURTEEN minutes and this is all you could come up with...these inane blatherings?
Why do you have asteriscks on both ends of the word any, as in *any*??
I have seen it before, I don't get it.

Speaking of saying goodbye...Why don't YOU say goodbye to the Huff&Puff and never come back with such weak comments. Palin makes millions because there are many who want to see her....How many pay to see you?

Her voice sometimes reminds me of my mother screaming at me to "clean up that mess in your room."

After three years one would think that one of her advisors would advise her to take a course in public speaking lessons.

There is no slight? This is the only country in the world that doesn't honor it's most important founder. This country should be ashamed of itself...it's a disgrace.
Why do we have a day for MLK and nothing but a stupid mattress or TV sale for the two men who made this country possible? For all of the pomp and hoopla, He was a great man in a limited area..but only in that limited area. Without Washington, there would be no USA or MLK. And without Lincoln, there would probably not be a USA as we know it, and there certainly would not be an MLK.

To all of the little pinkies out there...I met MLK once in N.Carolina and he was a good guy but not a George Washington; and he would agree, so save your phoney outrage for someone who cares.
