Obama Campaign Names National Co-Chairs

Obama Campaign Co Chair

02/22/12 08:34 AM ET  AP

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama's re-election campaign has named 35 national co-chairs, including elected officials, campaign volunteers and a few celebrities.

Among the Democratic politicians serving as co-chairs are Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick and Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin. Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Chafee, a Republican-turned-Independent, will also serve as a co-chair.

The campaign also named actress Eva Longoria and former White House staffer Kalpen Modi, better known as the actor Kal Penn, as co-chairs. Five campaign volunteers from key battleground states have also gained the title of co-chair.

The list also includes Obama's two former White House chiefs of staff: Bill Daley, who left the administration earlier this year, and Rahm Emanuel, who now serves as Chicago mayor.

The campaign says the co-chairs will advise the campaign on key issues and help mobilize voters across the country.

Let's keep a close eye on Rahm and make sure that he's doing Chicago good. It's too quiet here and there's a whole lot to repair from the Daley administration damages and we don't want Rahm to fall into the same old money laundering TIF fund game and good 'ole buddy no bid city contract awards and selling off valuable Chicago income assets - Daley sold us off good....real good. Where's the money????

Again with Bill Daley?? Don't understand what's up with that, but I'm sure there was a conversation first. I think Deval Patrick, MA Governor is amazing, smart, and capable. And Dick Durbin is Mr. "Steady, Mr. Pragmatic"--and Ms. Longoria is one gorgeous, smart Latina. Off to a great start.

I believe Longoria would make a strong Senate candidate in Texas, her family has lived there longer than any English speaker. I think a real statement of fair treatment for all people in America. Celebrity is a plus, balances out against money.

The liberral masses are the ones who give ordinary people celebrrity status. It's one of the reasons there is so much sex and violence in the media. Kind of like Rome keeping the masses occupied with the arena so they could maintain power. Celebrities feel compelled to support Obama to protect themselves from loss of poplarity. Blinded by power and money, celebrities could care less about the ordinary American. The majority of their charity goes outside the United States, and a lot of them choose not to live in this country. Hypocrites.

Whenever these endorsements crop up, I always wonder who in the world votes for a political candidate because Eva Longoria (insert any celebrity) supports him/her?

I wonder why anyone would ever limit their vote based upon one's political affiliation, ignoring character, past record, education, experience, or judgement.
