Jon Stewart Rips GOP's Obama Fear-Mongering: 'Y'all Have Lost Your Damn Minds' (VIDEO)

While the four remaining GOP presidential candidates debated once again in Arizona Wednesday night, Jon Stewart took a look at how Republican fear-mongering about Barack Obama in 2008 stacks up to what they're now saying will happen if he gets re-elected in 2012.

As "The Daily Show" proved nightly in 2008, the GOP's use of demonizing, "Socialist Islamic Dictator" rhetoric when discussing then-candidate Obama implied that he was all that stood between America and catastrophe. Now that his first term is almost over, how did all those scary premonitions pan out?

To those who said Obama was a Socialist, Stewart admitted that he did in fact redistribute billions of taxpayer dollars -- but to the banks. Remember when Rep. Steve King said al Qaeda would be "dancing in the streets" if Obama was elected in 2008? Stewart noted that if you replace "dancing" with the dodging of drone missiles, he might have been right.

Or how about when John McCain said gun rights would be at risk "without a doubt" if Obama were elected? Stewart wondered how Obama passing legislation to allow concealed weapons to be carried in parks and on Amtrak trains limits those rights.

"It appears Barack Obama has failed to keep many of the campaign promises that his opponents made for him," Stewart joked.

In part two below, Stewart took at look at what the current GOP candidates have been predicting about Obama's second term, leading him to say, "Y'all have lost your damn minds."

The Marx’s fairness rhetoric is like Silly-Putt­y. There is no specificit­y attached to them . They can be shaped to mean anything. When asked how much is enough to pay in taxes and what’s the definition of “fair,” politician­s give blank stares. It means “more taxes” so they can buy more votes from envious voters. Most already have money. What they don’t have is power.

Obama wants to destroy every profit-mak­ing business. He wants to make life “fair” for everybody. This will mean having everybody share in the misery of mediocrity except the politburo that will be called on to manage the disintegra­ting economy. They will become even more powerful as the nation disintegra­tes into despair. There will be calls for even more government interventi­on.

The left sells the idea that there is only one pie to divide but if someone builds his own oven and bakes more pies, the people he paid to build the ovens should get a piece of all his other pies.....this is not a zero sum game............How many people did Bill Gates and Steve Jobs hurt when they opened up the personal computer tech to the masses??
They created more millionaires and generated more tax revenue than any two people in the history of civilization along with creating hundreds of thousands of jobs! ... The socialist countries spend millions every year trying to reverse engineer everything that the innovators in this country produce because it takes financial freedom and the rewards of capitalism to open that level of innovation. Ever notice that nothing really great and innovating comes out of the Government Central Planning in the great socialist societies? Wonder why? In the US we have a guarantee of equal opportunity not a guarantee of equal success. If you feel that your constitutional rights have been violated than address that with the person that did it, not the generalization that the system is stacked against you! Most wealth lasts only one and maybe two generations and most wealthy people earned thier wealth....The class warfare rhetoric is designed to illicit envy ....and it works on many!

do you know any socialists? have you ever met a person living in a socialist country and asked them how their life is? My guess is no. The pipeline across the U.S. was a horrible idea. The pipeline would have only created temporary contracting jobs that would expire after a year and then the majority of the jobs would only be in canada and with a couple hundred for the oil companies. Your comments are blatantly ignorant and it's really a shame. I wish you could learn more. Perhaps we should take away some pointless defense spending and increase lifelong adult education because that is the antidote for conservatism, learning something.

Hey Gracemarie, get a clue instead of listening to Rush, the Clown. I just watched a no-bid gas line project in my own back yard. Kinder Morgan hired a contractor that wasted all kinds of money and they were paying the actual workers $15.00/hr and the job lasted only 6 months. ( $15.00/hr. isn't much better than unemployment. )This so-called great pipeline will create 12,000 temporary jobs at most and be a huge windfall for the oil companies that pay their executives high 8-figure salaries while disturbing pristine lands and creating potential oil spills. Every pipeline ever built has had huge oil spills. The pipeline isn't about jobs - it's about massive corporate profits. USA won't see any lower oil prices for this Canadian oil - they will sell to the highest bidder using our ports and our refineries. Do you even know that only 15% of our oil comes from the middle east?

Our nation has become more divided since he took office than anytime since the Vietnam conflict. There has been a tremendous increase of government intrusion into our lives. Four more years of Obama and the country would be in big trouble...he's put us and our posterity into five trillion dollars more debt; four more years of the guy and we will go the way of Greece. It's certainly Obama's fault the economy is turned around and the stock market is closing on new highs monthly. Through Obama's ill advised policies, the unemployment rate has dropped to pre-recession levels. Now you can go back to watching Rupert Murdoch's manure on Faux News.
