Michael Niccole, Plastic Surgeon, Does Daughter's Boob Job (WATCH)

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 02/23/2012 3:49 pm Updated: 02/23/2012 5:31 pm

Sadly, giving plastic surgery as gifts is nothing new. But here's one we never heard before: a dad performing his own daughter's breast enhancement procedure for her 18th birthday.

California-based surgeon Michael Niccole tells ABC's "20/20" that operating on his daughter, Brittani, is really no big deal: "I've done surgery on my other sons, my wife, my cousins, my father, and I feel very comfortable."

He also did Brittani's nose job when she was 21 and regularly injects his other daughter, 23-year-old Charm, with Botox in her armpits -- "so I stop sweating," she says.

The Niccoles' story, as well as Joan Rivers' and a woman who got her boobs done at 83, are part of "The Cutting Edge," a new episode of "20/20" set to air Friday, 10 p.m. EST.

As Barbara Walters informed George Stephanopoulos on "Good Morning America" today, the episode will focus on several "trends," including plastic surgery and cosmetic enhancement spanning the generations and what kind of procedures men like to get.

Like we said, mostly nothing new. But we just have to see more of this family surgery situation, in which Dr. Niccole praises his daughter for looking sexy and invites all her friends in for treatments. Family bonding or kind of weird? You decide.

I think that taking this to the level of "odd" or "weird" or "sick" is taking it too far. I find it sad that young girls feel the need to change their breast size or other parts of their body. As someone who would never consider surgical alterations of any kind (other than those necessary for medical reasons) I question the lack of self esteem of the girl and wonder if her father should have tried harder to let her know that she is loved the way she is. That said, if she was going to have the surgery anyway, who better than her father to make sure that she got proper and correct care.

i think some of the comments here show an appalling (though unsurprising) level of ethno-centrism. the american culture has sexualized female breasts to the point of total silliness. in many cultures around the worldl women are bare breasted at all times. i don't feel able to judge this particular family dynamic. i highly doubt the father sees his daughters (whether adopted or not) as sexually appealing or that he used this as an excuse to fondle them. suggestions of more vulgar medical/piercing procedures really seem out of line.

my father saw me breast feed my babies, as he saw his mother before me. no one covered themselves in silly tents either. i assure you, there was nothing sexual in the slightest going on. we all just understood the function of female breasts - to feed our young.

i grew up on a ranch, there were times after doing particularly dirty work, we would all shed most of our clothes in the mud room/laundry area. no one got their rocks off, honest.

if neither father nor daughter is uncomfortable, i really don't see any need for titillation or speculation here folks. i do understand that medical ethics does not encourage physicians to treat themselves or family members, there are also times when that too is no big deal.

While many dads are too busy with work to spend much time with family.....this man is painstakingly working to increase his daughter's self esteem. Such wonderful values will undoubtedly be passed on to future generations in this family.

I realize for some this may be an overly broad and perhaps unfair assumption. However, am I the only one who noticed that Brittani was clearly either bi-racial or African American and from earlier photos appeared to of had her skin lightened along with her nose narrowed, hair straightened, etc. All of course is her perogative, but it suggests to me her issues aren't merely with her appearance, but with her identity as well.

Has anyone wondered about what the appeal would be for the future boyfriend/husband?/(other than the obvious) and what this would reflect in terms of their own values? .....Then again, what if the future boyfriend/husband come from a similiar background / value sysyem???The question is....where does this leaves us as a society?/ particularly as it applies to what we see on the outside as oppose to the inside.

as a physician-in-training, i find this very disturbing! firstly, it's highly recommended not to perform surgeries/procedures on your family members. secondly, it's so sad that a father would confirm/validate daughters' thoughts that she needs to get surgery to feel beautiful. i hope this generation doesn't confuse plastic/fake with beautiful (i'm hoping that it's limited to some parts of california). thirdly, starting off so early in these processes really sets one up for a lifetime of maintenance issues. the best word to sum up my feelings to this is "yuck".

I Agree! I'm very sure this is mostly because its california. Its just so sad that her reason for implants was "so I have good self esteem" and her friends had big ones. Soo sad! So she has awful self esteem, but implants will work to change that, I'm sure!
Most girls with brains just... better themselves/ work out/ help others/ trial and error/ learn stuff, to better how they feel about themselves. WTF is wrong with these people.
Although, to be fair this is only 1 girl, and most people don't think that..

As a California health professional I can tell you this is not the norm, even for LA. I doubt I could tolerate seeing a child in my family on a ventilator, let alone put a scalpel to her flesh. This is disturbing

Like most other people I'd guess, I was drawn here by morbid curiosity.

But my curiosity, however morbid, stops well short of WATCH.

With names like Brittani and Charm, it's not like these two were going to grow up to be stem cell researchers or atom-splitters. Might as well prepare them.

Personally in my opinion, 18 is too young to start a lifetime process of capsulectomies for scar tissue, deflations if they are saline implants, Most people don't realize implants do have an expiration date, the ones lasting 15 to 20 yrs are the un-usual not the norm. Family should never be operating on relatives. Just poor practice.

a father does not need to see his daughters breast,no matter the occassion.if hes doing it to save money.then hes a tightwad, let one of his doctor friends to do it.just sounds perverted to me.
