Melvin Bedford, High School Student, Scores First Basket Last Time On Court

WATCH: Teen Survives Heart Attack, Returns To Basketball Court

Here at HuffPost High School, we've been hearing a ton of inspiring high school basketball stories lately ("Linderella" stories, in some cases!). The latest is the amazing story of Melvin Bedford, a high school student who scored his first basket during his last time on the court.

While playing back with his friends in 2010 when he was 16, Bedford suffered from a massive heart attack. Because his heart stopped and his brain was deprived of oxygen, he also suffered from brain damage, according to Patch. Not only did he miraculously survive, but he also returned to school seven months later. Although he can no longer play his favorite game, basketball, Bedford is still a part of the team.

His former coach told Patch: "He's an amazing young man. He's never not been a member of this team even though he can't participate."

Although Bedford can't take part in strenuous activities, at a recent game, the team arranged for him to have about 10 seconds on the floor to shoot. And he scored -- for the first time in his career.
