Gingrich California Republican Convention

Burlingame Patch :

Presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich blamed the Obama Administration for the recent spike in oil prices and promised supporters at the California Republican Convention today that he would sign an executive order if elected to approve the Keystone XL pipeline project.

With dozens of supporters holding “$2.50 a gallon” signs behind him during his speech at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport Hotel Saturday, Gingrich admonished what he called the Obama Administration’s systemic failure in energy policy, and accused it of deliberately raising gas prices.

That's right. Gingrich living in faerie tale land again. High prices are all obama's fault. And maniacal republican action attempting to enforce dependence on depleting oil had nothing to do with it.

so, Newt's answer basically is to nationalize the oil industry... it's the only way to keep private business from charging whatever they feel...

once more a hypocrite...

Gingrich thinks he's so much smarter than everyone else - so much so, that he makes up obviously untrue stuff like this, and expects to be able to manipulate voters because they don't know better.

I realized this about Newt, when I learned he is a fan of Science Fiction author Isaac Azimov's "Hari Seldon," the psycho-historian character from the Foundation Series.

Newt has in the past compared himself as a kind of modern day Hari Seldon, and when you see Newt blatantly trying to manipulate people in this way, you realize he truly must fancy himself as a man whose intellect is so huge he can literally alter the course of human history with it.

What is wrong with oil? Better than pixie dust....

your right.. Oil is much better than technology we have to be able to run cars on hydrogen, electricity, and natural gas. Why would we need clean air technology? Thats a terrible resource

When Bush was president the GOP demanded respect for anyone residing in the Oval Office but what they really meant was GOP presidents only. They have smeared and insulted President Obama from day one. Such hypocrites.

Gingrich blames the President for gas prices being what they are and NOT the Oil Industry? Both he and the GOP are shills for the energy industry. The price of gasoline at the pumps has nothing to do with how much we're drilling for oil!

There is no fuel shortage in the USA!!! The US Energy Information Associations latest report (Feb) shows that we're EXPORTING 600,000 to 626,000 barrels of gasoline/day!

That's 26.3 million gallons per day.

And Big Oil (and the Republican Party they've bought) still wants the American taxpayer to subsidize them while we're getting shafted at the pump?

Ergo: the run up in gas prices from 2001 to 2008 was the Bush Gas Tax..according to Gingrich.

Newt, if you don't know that speculators and oil companies determine the price of oil and not the President, you are dishonest and not fit to be president.

He's such a liar! What does he think, that President Obama has a magic wand he's refusing to use to lower gas prices? I'm so sick of this stuff. Do Republicans ever tell the truth about anything? F&F

Tell Newt, others how www.mpgleader.com has a 30.1% CARB/EPA lab certfied fuel system savings solution available for gas or CNG powered vehicles. Less demand mean lower fuel prices.

This country has not been better off since Ronald Reagan was president. He is the reason our country has trickled itself down into misery. Do not bring Ronald Reagan, whose mind was not even all here, into the equation. People like this large rotund megalomaniac Gingrich have done nothing for this country except profit from it as an historian lobbyist. He is as crooked as they come!

ah yes, Saint Ronny the Alzheimers poster child the one who RAISED TAXES 12 times.
12:33 AM on 02/27/2012
In 1981, Reagan's first year, income taxes were greatly reduced. In 1982 and 1984 taxes were raised to almost reach the the pre-1981 reduction level. In 1986, a major tax reform act was passed. This reform dropped the highest tax bracket level, but added taxes on business and made other changes that kept revenue about the same. The increases in business taxes and decreases in personal taxes were phased in over the new three years.
