Posted: 02/27/2012 1:36 pm

TLC is extending its special "My Collection Obsession" with a new eight-part reality series called "My Crazy Obsession." The series will follow people who are extremely dedicated to various objects, people or lifestyles.

In the premiere episode, we'll meet Pat and Joe -- and their favorite Cabbage Patch Kids doll, Kevin -- who own more than 5,000 Cabbage Patch Kids dolls. In addition to collecting, they also hold play dates with other Cabbage Patch enthusiasts -- as seen in the exclusive sneak peek above. The duo have spent more than a $1 million on Cabbage Patch-related expenses.

"My Crazy Obsession" premieres on Wed., March 7 at 10 p.m. EST.

They've spent a MILLION dollars on this "collection" .. wow. They could have donated that money to a children's hospital, a burn clinic .. some THERAPY.

Let's face it: we're all just filling in the space between birth and death. These two aren't hurting anyone and it's kind of great that each has found their soulmate.

Very well put. And, I agree. There are certainly worse things to pursue. But....(of course I have a but) when I see the obvious care, the time, the talent, that they put into this, I feel a little sad that this isn't bestowed on children, who could benefit so much from this attention. Even though I don't have children of my own, I have had the honor of being part of several children's lives. I don't need to tell you how wonderful it is. Maybe it's the messy part that they don't care for?

You have a point. As a very happy auntie, I do agree how wonderful it is!

TLC's parade of human freaks was one of the contributing factors to getting rid of the cable 3 years ago. i appreciate these glimpses into what we left behind. makes it that much more certain that we made the right decision.

Hi, Just curious. Do you watch Television at all? Are you getting the over the air channels or Satellite TV, which has about the same channels as Cable. Just wondering why only a couple channels that you did not have to watch made you make this decision?

i actually watch several shows regularly via the internet. the problem was not that i made a decision to give up cable over a couple shows, but that i was frankly only watching a very narrow spectrum of the cable lineup to begin with, of which TLC was a part. i was paying for about a hundred channels, few than 10 of which i even flipped past, and between the explosion of surreality tv and cable news becoming even more intentionally sensationalist with each passing day, we recognized it was time to just let go. the hardest part was the first few months, when i realized for the first time just how much i depended on the television for background noise above anything else. if we ever go back to cable, it will only be through an a la carte service that lets us choose exactly the stations we want, so i don't have to pay for the GOPropaganda network known as FOX News and such.

Better than watching eyeball surgery, which is what they used to show years ago. That was disgusting.
