'Veep': Julia Louis-Dreyfus Stars In New HBO Trailer (VIDEO)

First Look Julia Louis-Dreyfus's Return To TV

Julia Louis-Dreyfus is returning to TV in HBO's "Veep,." And she's doing it with style and power as Selina Meyer, the new vice president of the United States.

"In The Loop" co-writer Armando Iannucci created the new HBO comedy that also stars Sufe Bradshaw ("Overnight"), Anna Chlumsky ("My Girl"), Tony Hale ("Arrested Development"), Reid Scott ("My Boys"), Tim Simons ("Days Together") and Matt Walsh ("Outsourced").

"It is a true delight to work with HBO and Armando Iannucci," Louis-Dreyfus said in a statement. "I take the role of vice president very seriously, and although everyone says this is a comedy, I don't think there is anything funny at all about me being a heartbeat away from the presidency."

In "Veep," Louis-Dreyfus stars as a former senator who is now second in command of the United States. However, Vice President Meyer quickly learns the job isn't exactly what she expected.

"OK, what's left here? I have 'hello' and ... prepositions," the character says while going over her newly-edited speech. What exactly is politics about for Vice President Meyer? "People," apparently.

Check out the new trailer below.

"Veep" premieres Sun., April 22 at 10 p.m. on HBO.
