Agyness Deyn Admits She's Been Lying About Her Age, Is Actually 29

British supermodel Agyness Deyn 'fessed up to a major secret to the Guardian recently: she's been totally fibbing about her age.

It's not like no one ever speculated that the blonde-haired beauty was older than the 23 years she claimed to be. Friends who went to school with her insisted she was closer to her late 20's, and a Facebook group was set up for those who affirmed the sentiment "Agyness Deyn You're Not 18."

And now Deyn finally sets the record straight -- she's on the verge of the big 3-0.

"When I decided I would really do modelling I was like 18, and I think at the time that was quite old for a new face, so we knocked off a few years...

"I'm 29, I feel like that's the age when you start to think about life. What is this all about? Who am I?"

Deyn, nee Laura Hollins, also opens up on why she ditched her birthname for her arguably more interesting moniker:

Yeah, I started modelling, and they said there are loads of Lauras – you can change your name. I was like, OK, and then I thought about it and said OK, I'll be called Agnes; my grandmother was called Agnes." It was as simple as that? "Yeah."

In light of New York's current problem with designers hiring underage runway models, we're glad Agyness has finally opened up about being older than the usual pretty young things the fashion world's enchanted with. We just wish she hadn't felt the pressure to hide it for so long.

That's a shame that she felt that she needed to lie about her age. She's a beautiful woman, and the industry would have taken her anyway.

Ya I lie about my age too!!! I say I 'm 63 yrs old and nobody can believe how great I look!!! It's because i am really 53 yrs old !!! I always think it's better to say your much older than you really are.That way you will always look good for your age hahaha

Since many models in the industry start so young, you are considered over the hill at age 25. (At least this was the case when I was in the industry, several years ago.) Therefore, many models will lie about their ages in order to keep working. It is not uncommon at all. Personally, I am proud of my 35 yrs. I have earned each and every one of them.
