Families Still Buying Luxury Homes In Oakland County

Most homes sold in Metro Detroit last year went for under $250,000, but the greatest sales growth was among more expensive, upscale houses that would have commanded even higher prices before the housing meltdown.

Sales of all existing condominiums and homes in Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties grew 2.2 percent in 2011 compared with 2010, according to Realcomp II Ltd., the Farmington Hills multiple listing service.
