National Pancake Day 2012: Chicago's Best Pancakes (PHOTOS)

PHOTOS: Chicago's Best Pancakes

Tuesday marks the International House of Panakes' seventh annual National Pancake Day, a "holiday" the restaurant chain began in 2005 to help fundraise for the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and other local charities.

IHOPs across the country will be offering free short stacks all day, and encouraging patrons to donate to the children's hospital, or other worthy causes.

While we support their efforts, and encourage pancake lovers to be selfless and giving on this special day, we thought Chicago's own, unique pancake-makers deserved some attention, too.

We asked our readers on Facebook and Twitter where they got their favorite flapjacks, and rounded up some of their top picks.

Not surprisingly, Golden Nugget came up a few times, as did The Original Pancake House: unsurprising, since we've all seen their lines wrap around the building on key brunch days.

But our readers also called out a few neighborhood gems worth checking out.
