Oprah On 'Weekend Update': Maya Rudolph's Unaired 'Saturday Night Live' Bonus Sketch (VIDEO)

First Posted: 02/28/2012 4:28 pm Updated: 02/29/2012 2:06 pm

Some great sketches came out of Maya Rudolph hosting "Saturday Night Live" February 18, but fans of her famous Oprah impression were probably left disappointed.

It turns out an Oprah bit was written as part of "Weekend Update," it just didn't make the final cut.

Luckily NBC has released the footage from dress rehearsal on Hulu as a "Bonus Sketch," so if you're still craving some of that Rudolph-Poehler goodness, you're in luck.

I didn't know until recently that Maya Rudolph was the daughter of the late singer Minnie Ripperton.

I wish Maya and Amy were back on SNL together, they are simply 2 of the funniest women in comedy today.

Totally agree! Maya needs a better show than the one she's on now. It's a total waste of talent. (Hers & Will Arnetts anyway)

Much of this season of SNL hasn't been hilarious to me, but I think the writers were saving the best stuff for Maya's episode. I thought it was great!

Why does Maya Rudolph play black women?

She plays Black women because she's Black (Bi-racial), you didn't know?

That's why I believe MJ's kids are his, you don't have to look Black to be Black.....

Her mother is the late great singer Minnie Ripperton who died in the 80's of breast cancer. Minnie Ripperton was Black and Maya's father is Jewish.

Why shouldn't she? Besides, she's bi-racial (if you think she needs cred).

I've never seen this person, haven't watched SNL in years, except for clips here and there like this (usually of Tina Fey's Gov 1/2 Term"I Quit!"palin). It was alright. But one thing...

...she looks just like that palindaughter, bristle.or.whateverhernameis. I saw the mainpage photo and that's the first thing I thought of, that she was doing that silly girl. And then when I played the vid I didn't even think of Oprah. Still doesn't make me think of Oprah, even though the script kinda mosied along those lines. Her appearance and physical actions only makes me think of gristlepalin.

Maya is the daughter of the singer Minnie Riperton. She is very talented. She's also in the movie "Bridesmaids" and has hew own show on NBC "Up All Night".

I'm finding out that most people don't know that Maya is Black (Bi-Racial). Her mother was Black and her father is Jewish.

I didn't know that. Maya doesn't look biracial to me but her hair was kinda like a giveaway--the same way Soledad Obrien is. I thought Ms. Obrien of CNN was white, but her hair was kinda thick at the roots so I wondered if she had some black in her--come to find out, her mother is black too!

I have a cousin in California who has a mexican father, yet she doesn't look mixed(biracial) at all. She can pass as a pure looking mexican. People would be shocked to look at her and then see her mother (my cousin).

Wise move to keep this abrasive skit out. Overlong and overbearing.

Her Whitney Houston impression is the best. She did not do it when she hosted the show a couple weeks ago for obvious reasons. I'm sure a Whitney Houston sketch was planned for sometime and they had to scrap it.

It wasn't a very funny show for the stuff that did get on. SNL needs new writers - it's been pretty insufferable the last few years.

I don't care what anyone says, I like Maya Rudolph.

I thought it was an unexpectedly strong show! Go Maya!!!
