Sheldon Adelson Makes Another 'Substantial' Contribution To Newt Gingrich Super PAC

Sheldon Adelson Newt Gingrich Superpac

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- Billionaire casino owner Sheldon Adelson has given another "substantial" contribution to an independent group supporting Republican Newt Gingrich, helping the group launch new TV ads in seven states where the former House speaker hopes to resurrect his struggling presidential campaign.

The super PAC Winning Our Future received a donation from the Las Vegas billionaire similar to two separate $5 million contributions Adelson and his family donated previously, according to a person familiar with the contribution. The person was not authorized to discuss the donations publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity.

The committee will air TV ads beginning Tuesday in Georgia, Ohio, Oklahoma and Tennessee, four "Super Tuesday" states voting March 6 where Gingrich hopes to rejuvenate his campaign. The super PAC will also start airing ads Wednesday in Mississippi, Alabama and Kansas, which hold contests next month.

The ads seek to undercut Republican Mitt Romney's argument that he would pose the most formidable challenge to President Barack Obama. It opens with an older man declaring Romney's name and sighing. A woman says she doesn't relate to Romney and another man says he doesn't "know if I can trust him." Another male voice says, "He doesn't have the strength to stand up to Obama."

The ad promotes Gingrich's energy plan, which the former House speaker has touted as a way to bring down gasoline prices to $2.50 a gallon. A male voice says, "Newt Gingrich can beat Obama."

Adelson's $5 million donation to Winning Our Future in January was considered critical to helping Gingrich keep his campaign alive.

The donation and ads were first reported by Politico.

Is Is Sheldon Adelsons vote more important than John Jones..Then why do we know Sheldon JAdelson and not John Jones. Is it because Adelson has a billion dollars and Jones does not?
The Supreme Court in their great wisdom decided that they would make Giant Corporations equal to John Jones. Now if they could only make John Jones equal to Giant Corporations perhaps John Jones could go into a million homes But no such luck.
Congratulations Great Supreme Court in your effort to make Giant Corporations equal to John Jones you have made no one equal to anybody

Why is Sheldon Adelson vote more important than John Jones. It isn't. Then why do we hear of Adelson and not Jones..We say they are equally important as voters but the Supreme court in their great wisdom has decided that in order for equality to exist they must make giant Corporations equal to John Jones.. Now if they could only make John Jones equal to giant Corporations he could be heard in a million homes. The trouble with that it would take a million John Jones to equal one giant Corporation Congratulations Oh Mighty Supreme Court you have nade no one equal to anyone.

Why would Sheldon Adelson throw so much good money after bad? What does he know about Newt? Is this an attempt to pave the way for Romney or for Santorum? This is puzzling.

Then Adelson is using tax payer money also? Or doen't he pay any taxes since the majority of his income is made in Macau?

Interesting to watch these billionaires prop up these vanity campaigns.
As long as Newt vows to put the interests of Israel and China over those of the US, he’ll keep getting the cash.
60% of all President Obama’s donations have been for less then $200.

It can be focused all you want, but it will not have that effect. The freak show has ruined the chances for a Republican.

Fools and their money are soon parted.
Just because the man is wealthy, it doesn't mean he is wise.
There is no way Newt is going to win anything, so this may just be a tax write off for Adelson.

I've seen estimates that put Adelson's income at 3.5 million an hour. This is a day at the circus for him. Perhaps he has ulterior motives, or perhaps he really, really, really likes Newt. Either way, your comment about wisdom is spot on.

His Israel connection is the real issue.
Newt will do whatever he's told if Shelley lets Newt realize his rightful spot as ruler of the moon.

A tax write-off almost never makes financial sense. Unless someone is paying more than 100% in taxes, he or she is losing money on the deal.

Adelson's best friend is PM Bibi Netanyahu who wrote:

Netanyahu¬’s memoir, A Durable Peace, edited by neocon Douglas Feith, warned that the creation of a sovereign Palestinia¬n state could lead Latinos to establish a “second Mexico” in the Southwest

Is Adelson also funding the fueling of anti- immigration campaign to divide the country?

I wonder if this means he can get to call the shots on when we drop the first bomb on Iran. What a great country where a rich citizen can buy the nation's foreign policy.
