Who is this opportunity that Santorum keeps blowing?

When you live inside an extreme bubble of your own making, and surround yourself with others who are just as extreme, you're frankly mystified when what you believe (it's snobbery to suggest students ought to go to college) hurts you in the polls.

There is no re-set for Retrograde Rick. He has clearly demonstrated he is a misogynist. In today's world, with YouTube and the 24-hour cable news cycle, there is more than enough footage to compile a greatest hits video of Skanktorum spewing vitriol.

His particular kind of vitriol removes all doubt that he embraces Fascism. He is anti-contraception, anti-abortion, anti-gay marriage and anti-separation of church and state. Where do any of those attitudes fit in today's democratic society?
11:32 AM on 02/29/2012
"Skanktorum" LOL

It IS a bit unsettling to hear him touted as a "true" conservative. More unsettling is how many people out there support his views. My God, he got 38% or so of the vote in Michigan!

In the end, it's hard to imagine him carrying the day; Romney's money will eventually prevail even if he's an empty suit.

Another poster coined that term, but I love it! I agree with you, Mitt will buy this one, in the end.

Is it possible, just slightly possible, that Santorum represents a candidate for President that is just TOO extreme? I'm not sure I believe it yet...

Is anyone to extreme for the republican party?
11:18 AM on 02/29/2012
Really. Check out the story here (HuffPost) about the Republican insurance salesman who believes that the Holocaust never happened! Even better, it's an "extortion racket" run by Jews! Oh, and he organizes "family-friendly" neo-nazi events around Hitler's birthday!

If there is, I fear we have not found it yet... I guess in a way, the GOP IS a "big tent" party--it's just that it's filled with extremists, and you can only enter from the "right"...

Congratulations to Mit Romney on his victory. Rick Santorum was like a freight train out of control saying all the wrong things without being corrected. This country deserves much better hardware than that.

How the Michigan Primary a victory for Mitt again? He only walked out with a 3 delegate lead in his home state after spending 4.3 million dollars. If that's success, I'd hate to see failure.

Memo to Santorum:

Women vote.
Gays vote.
Non-catholics vote.

And...some of them are Republicans.

Ohio's primary is open I believe....I'm not saying I'll go out and vote....but I know repubs voted for Hillary in 08 for Ru sh's "operation ch a os." It did backfire on them, which is why I will probably not go out and do it.

Can we all agree on one thing? That Mitt will become the candidate via purchase and stop thinking that any other candidate will defeat Mitt.

Santorum is a loose cannon. The adage of "fooling some of the people some of the time but not all of the time" applies to Rick.

Republicans in other states have to realise Santorum was thoroughly rejected in PA, his last run for Senate, because he was : anti union, anti education, anti middle class etc.

All Rick is concerned about is other people's sexual habits and their religion.

There are a minimum of two Santorums.

One who presents a blue collar economic message, with references to his granddad's coal miner background. He claims to be concerned with saving the manufacturing sector.

The other is his extreme social values obsession.

I think the social values persona is the dominant one.

He probably will try serenade Ohio GOPERS with the blue collar message("I am one of you"). He will pitch an economic message in Ohio.

He knows he was damaged by those insane remarks about separation of church and state, and also on contraception.

But the other persona keeps rearing its ugly head, because that is the real Rick Santorum...the real Rick Santorum is obsessed with a radical social values agenda.

It is what he is.

Remember his involvement on the Terri Schiavo matter?

That is Rick's inner self coming out.
