Kristen Stewart Balenciaga Show Appearance Ups Paris Fashion Week's Celeb Factor (PHOTOS)

Kristen Stewart and Salma Hayek upped the celebrity count at Paris Fashion Week this morning, taking their seats at Balenciaga's Fall 2012 show.

K-Stew, who touched down in Paris yesterday, was positioned right next to Anna Wintour, the most honored spot in the front row and sometimes an indicator of Vogue covers to come.

But Stewart, who's already covered the fashion mag once, earned her front row spot as one of Balenciaga's favorite new girls: she landed the brand's newest fragrance campaign this year and this morning sat alongside Charlotte Gainsbourg, also a Balenciaga muse and fragrance face.

Also in attendance at the Balenciaga show: the ever-gorgeous Salma Hayek, whose husband Francois-Henri Pinault is the CEO of Balenciaga parent company PPR. Hayek and Pinault hit the show together, although clearly Salma, in her minidress, ombre hair and cat-eye sunnies, captured most of the paparazzi attention.

And rightly so. She's fabulous.

But nobody does that insouciant, I-don't-give-a-damn-about-you-and-your-camera like the ever-pouty Stewart. Check her out in all her fashion glory.

It's interesting - I saw the photo of her from the shoulders up - demure jacket with a flowered shell. Then I saw the rest of the outfit - 180 degrees!!

Are those shoe-pants??? it's like they're melting together. They look really wierd. I looooooove those leather pants and Kristen has an amazing body so she's able to pull them off really well. The top doesn't seem to really go with the outfit but it would be cute on its own. Glad she took off the extensions becaue her hair is near perfect and she doesn't need them. I'd like her to dye her hair back to brown though...it looked really nice. Kristen stans on here are just too cute. All 3 of them. Kristen fans are young. Get over it. The same way I can admit that as a huge Beyonce fan, I'm in my 30s and usually one of the oldest people there. No harm in that. I'm sure Balenciaga give no f*cks about her target demographic the same way Chanel ignored Blake Lively's 14-20 demographic and let her campaign for them. Same as when Gucci ignored Rihanna's similar demographic and let her campaign for them as well. I don't know a 13 y/o that can afford Mui Mui but they used Hailee Steinfield. Not that big of a deal. Noone's jealous of her or her man and his sparkly peen. I'm excited to see how On The Road will be as a film because I couldn't even really get through the damn book.

Thinking from the perspective of market research, I wonder who is the target audience Balenciaga is trying to attract because of Kristen. Twlight fans...they are suburbia moms in sweatpants, juicy outfits and LV bags and desperate high school girls...Balenciaga is way too anarchistic for them, or is B changing their Marketing strategy...hhhmmm anyhow rather disappointing that also this company is going with the trend and frenzy...

You would be surprised how many fans Kristen has in the 20-40 single, educated female demographic; am tired of all the stereotypes surrounding her. I would say most of her fans are not necessarily Twilight fans; they have watched the subsequent films not because they're great films but because they like her and she's fascinating on-screen. Many of us are working, educated and are financially independent. So my guess is Balenciaga has in fact done their research, while it seems you rest on regurgitated stereotypes and anti-Twilight mantra spewed in tabloid headlines and (mostly) male critic reviews. I would suggest reading Balenciaga's statement when they announced their partnership with Kristen.

Maybe you're right about the Twilight fans, I don't know. I would say that Balenciaga is rather targetting the people who have seen her in , let's say, The Runaways or Welcome to the Rileys.
As far as I'm concerned, that's what I know her for, with Into the Wild and Adventureland, and tha's the case of many of my friends in France(the actual home of the brand).

I'm a big Charlotte Gainsbourg fan ( the other Balenciaga muse) and I can understand why the brand would chose Stewart for their campaign.I can see the connection between the two, in the urban hipster kind of way. Anyway, time (and figures) will tell us if it was a smart move.

But, hey nobody blinked when Lancôme picked Emma Watson. Are the Harry Potter fans the perfect target for a luxury brand?
