Sgt. Ryan Buchanan Celebrates Christmas With Family In February

Ky. Military Family Waits For Dad's Homecoming To Celebrate Christmas

Sergeant Darrell Buchanan missed a number of his six kids' milestones while serving in Afghanistan. But the Kentucky family wouldn't let him miss Christmas, even if that meant celebrating in February, WFIE reports.

Buchanan spent a year serving in Afghanistan, helping to create agriculture jobs, the news outlet reports. While his wife kept the household running, the kids insisted on keeping their favorite holiday on hold. They kept the Christmas tree up and the presents wrapped until their dad got home to enjoy the festivities with them.

"I started tearing up a little bit," Buchanan told WFIE of how reacted when he learned of children's sacrifice. "I think the world's going to be a better place because of them. If they're like that now, I can't wait until their adults."
