Jamie Hince To British GQ: 'I Feel A Bit Uncomfortable' In The Fashion Scene
Being married to Kate Moss, we imagine, can't be an easy thing: there's the constant paparazzi, the grueling social schedule... and you've got to be OK with other people seeing your wife topless all the time.
Jamie Hince, who currently serves in the Kate Moss' Husband role (the two married last July), seems to be holding up pretty well. But The Kills singer did tell British GQ in a new interview that his high-flying, fashion-filled life can be a bit much to take in:
When did you become interested in fashion? [...] fashion is in my psyche, although obviously Fashion Week is a far cry from that. We were at New York Fashion Week because we happened to be in New York and we were invited to play at a Marc Jacobs party. A party's a party, isn't it? And I like Marc Jacobs. He came to my wedding.
Well it would be rude not to then, wouldn't it?
You can tell I'm a bit awkward about it. I feel a bit uncomfortable about where the whole fashion and music thing came from, really. Sometimes I feel like: "What am I doing here?"
"This is not my beautiful house! This is not my beautiful wife!"
Exactly! What am I doing sitting on the front row of a Stella McCartney show? [Laughs] She is my friend, and her dad was in the Beatles.
Yup, fashion friends like Stella are one of the perks of moving in Kate Moss' orbit. In fact Stella McCartney designed most of Kate's wedding wardrobe and Kate came out to support her pal at the designer's London Fashion Week after-party.
But despite his sheepishness, Jamie holds his own among the fashion crowd. At his wedding he nearly stole the show in a light blue, double-breasted suit designed by Stefano Pilati (then of Yves Saint Laurent), after which British GQ ran a menswear style story entitled "Style lessons from Mr. & Mrs. Hince."
Which basically answers Hince's "What am I doing here?" question.
