The Shins' Clapping Butter Delivers That Solid 'Thwap' (VIDEO)

The Shins Have A Trick To Achieve The Perfect Clap

The Shins have perfected the art of the in-track clap via a clever little product they invented called "Clapping Butter." A thick coating of the blue, gel-like substance from hands up to mid-arm produced that solid "thwap" that all musicians strive for.

This band comedy bit produced over at Funny or Die features the band members in a series of musical sound producing shenanigans. James Mercer's delivery is spot-on and his acrobatic hops of excitement are almost better than the idea of clapping butter in the first place. If only this is how all studio sessions went.
