A Chicago man faces a felony aggravated animal cruelty charge after he allegedly threw his girlfriend's dog off of his back porch, breaking the pet's rear left leg and hip.
Darrick Sharkey, 24, of the 4200 block of West Iowa Street in the city's Humboldt Park neighborhood, was engaged in an argument with his girlfriend at the time of the attack late last month, Fox Chicago reports.
The Chicago Tribune reports that, according to police, Sharkey told his girlfriend, "This is what you get for calling the cops on me" before he hurled her pet off the first-floor porch.
After it was thrown, the injured dog was treated by the city's Animal Care and Control, according to NBC Chicago. Sharkey was arrested Friday.
