Ron Paul: Limbaugh Isn't Really Sorry

Ron Paul Limbaugh

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 03/ 4/2012 3:27 pm Updated: 03/ 4/2012 4:08 pm

Rush Limbaugh may be sorry he called student advocate Sandra Fluke a "slut," but Ron Paul isn't buying it.

"He's doing it because some people were taking their advertisements off of his program. It was his bottom line he was concerned about," Paul said. "I don't think he's very apologetic. It's in his best interest, that's why he did it."

Limbaugh is facing intense backlash after ranting calling Fluke, a Georgetown University law student who testified in Congress in support of Obama's birth control rule, a "slut" and a "prostitute." Several advertisers have pulled ads from his show and a slew of journalists and politicians have spoken out against his remarks. Even President Obama called Fluke to express his support for her.

Though Limbaugh apologized for his comments, the damage may be done. Several sponsors who backed out have said they won't reverse course in light of his apology.

Paul also called Limbaugh's comments "over the top," though he maintained that he did not support Obama's mandate.

This is one of the things I like about Ron Paul is that he speaks out about something when he thinks it's wrong regardless of what "side" they are on. He isn't afraid to speak up to anyone, even a bulldog like limbaugh.

Wow, a republican that isnt scared of Limbaugh.

Not really! Ron Paul is a Libertarian who is using the Republican party to advance his political dogma.

Bill Maher may be many things, but he is not a misogynist. That is simply stupid.

Yeah, he kinda is.

People who lump Maher in with the likes of truly exemplary good guys like Stewart and Colbert just because he happens to be progressive on a lot of issues (not as many as people tend to believe) and often funny (but not as often as he likes to believe) do a disservice to the idea of character.

My goodness! If certain groups had their way, women would lose birth control, right to choose, hey let's really take things back to the 1700's - women had no rights!! Remember the Scarlet Letter? Do we really need to brand women who stand up for what is right?

I will say this about Paul, he says it like it is!

There really isn't anything RL can say to take back the hours of ranting about this woman. Perhaps, good minded people can make the best out of this and support our convictions as human beings.

Ron Paul, the old guy who supports the right of all business to be racially bigoted in all forms, and who doesn't want to help the people whose lives were destroyed by a tornado, now feels that he's different than the druggie, Rush. His logic and his supporters humanity are both in short supply. Libertarian my A$$.

All businesses should have the right to be bigoted in all forms, racially and otherwise. At the same time everyone should have the right boycott, picket, protest, ect, not only the business owners, but also their patrons. By not doing business with these people or the people who support them, we drive them bankrupt. We are the majority now, it's time to start acting like it.

Who said, Ron Paul doesn't want to help the people, who have been effected by natural disasters? All he has said is, the federal government shouldn't be involved, and it shouldn't. Many tax payers are really in no position to help. If you have the means to volunteer time or money to the relief effort great, but many people are struggling to keep their heads above water or are already drowning. Why are we robbing, the poor to give to the poor? Where is the humanity in that? It makes no sense.

I'm writing this from my apartment in New Orleans in the Lower 9th Ward one mile from the break in the Levee which flooded my part of the city. It was Ron Paul himself who said that the federal government should not get involve with helping the citizens of catastrophic disasters. Forget everything that you "think" you know because from time to time there are catastrophic events that are far beyond the capacity of individual cities and states to contend with. Events whose sheer magnitude require the horse power that only the federal government is able to muster. It is fool hardy to think as Ron Paul suggests, that individual insurance policies can be counted on to recovered from such calamities. It is for that and other reasons I would never vote for Ron Paul to be POTUS of these United States.

Of course Rush didn't mean it. He just wanted to get back to the important business of his show, informing...I mean investigating....oh, I mean, probing important questions like....wait. What does this guy do again?

And John McCain, the one who could not keep airplanes in the air, calls for "WAR against IRAN.

Any dumbos out there, still, want to see them running our country, again, into the ditch?

Thank you. McCain was the worst pilot in the whole squadron. Disliked by all for his cocky attitude, for which there was no reason other than a dad and granddad who were admirals. His fellow POW's said he got special treatment, and every time he lost a political race, he whined and became a "maverick".

Again with the demonization. McCain's policies are one thing. But seriously? Swiftboating a guy who was captured by the enemy, imprisoned under terrible conditions for 5 years, and tortured to the point that his injuries remain with him to this day? That's pretty ugly stuff. 5 YEARS!

Sorry, but no, you aren't a Liberal. You aren't like any Liberal I know, at least... or any with whom I'd like to associate.

In fact, you should probably look the word up. I think you have it confused with leftist, or progressive, or some other concept that doesn't necessarily conform to the value for and tolerance of different ideas and the differently opinionated that is so important to true liberalism.

Of course Rush is not sorry. Same with Bush/Cheney to create total chaos and almost destroyed our economy. None of the republicans are sorry about the misery they brought to our country.

But they will be sorry in November

After a week of abuse of this innocent and powerless woman, republicans are finally starting to make mumblings and rumblings. Most don't come out in direct condemnation of Rush. They just wink to let you know they really don't think it was right for Rush to say such things. Seems McCain, after three years of siding with bullies because of his anger at Obama, has finally gone back to being the maverick.

I still think they, as a party, should condemn Rush for his unprecedented attacks. It's funny how republicans will talk about a couple words Bill Maher said as part of a really bad joke. Or Ed's own rant that got him canned for a week. But one of these instances was comedy in really bad taste and the other actually resulted in a real punishment and a real apology. Neither rose to the slander and viciousness of Rush's attacks.

Rush's show isn't comedy or entertainment. It is a political pulpit with a specific purpose. Rush regularly appears as a party leader and the republican candidates are terrified of him. He's a GOP kingmaker. As such, he should be held to a higher standard than mere 'entertainer.' To wield as much power brings with it a high level of responsibility. His ugly remarks show a complete lack of leadership. That is why so many are still calling the advertisers:

Who really cares about the woman or Rush? They're both bozos.

Who would speak for that party to condemn Rush if not for Rush himself? Mittens is technically his boss, and he is cowering in the corner.

Truth be told, Ron Paul is not a member of the GOP but instead a Libertarian. Why is it that Paul does not truthfully run as the Libertarian that he is?
