Most Popular Password Revealed By Study

Posted: 03/ 5/2012 3:28 pm

Really guys?

A new study from the security firm Trustwave revealed the most common password is "Password1," partly because it meets all the usual password requirements: an uppercase letter, a number and 9 characters.

People are tempted to go with a simple password that's easy to remember, but it can leave the user vulnerable to hacking.

Watch the video above for what to avoid when choosing a password.

It does exist, its just never perfect. Its no different than a bank. Even a bank with armed guards, cameras, and a vault can lose money to a robbery. It can lose money to an insider as well.

Now that information is money, you will always have ways it can be stolen from you, but there is a difference from leaving the pile of cash at the front door and leaving it in a vault that only employees know the combination to. Just because it is impossible to stop all security problems, doesn't mean you have to make obvious mistakes that allow anybody and everybody to walk right in and get to your information.

Its better that these companies are coming in and pointing these mistakes than that they remain open to criminals. I guarantee you, a professional doing a penetration test makes good money. They don't need to risk a decade in jail to get some risky big score. They can be rich without stealing a thing or hurting their conscience.

I use two but have nothing to do with birthday or anything else connected to me through public info.
I came up with it from some thing I had years ago along with a date of an event from years ago. Any hacker would have to probe my memory to find those events.

Duh!

They could have saved themselves a lot of time and money if they just watched "Hackers" to find that out.

BTW: Runners up were probably 'god', 'love', 'sex' and 'secret', more than likely follows by the number 1 (And No. I didn't read the article, but it's common knowledge in the IT world and has been for 20 years.)
