Rick Santorum Wins: Tennessee Primary Results 2012

Posted: Updated:

Rick Santorum was projected the winner of the Tennessee primary on Super Tuesday by ABC News.

Santorum was projected to finish first in the Oklahoma primary on Tuesday night, while former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney was projected to win primary contests in Vermont, Virginia and his home state of Massachusetts.

The AP reports:

In Tennessee, preliminary results from an exit poll there found 7 in 10 identified themselves as born-again Christians. In Oklahoma, three-quarters of voters identified themselves as born again. In both states, that's more than in any state voting before today with exit or entrance polls. About three-quarters in Tennessee said it mattered at least somewhat that a candidate shares their religious beliefs.
