Miguel Leonard-Hernandez Arrested Grow House; $300,000 In Marijuana Confiscated By Miami-Dade Police

$300,000 In Pot Confiscated At Grow House

Miami-Dade Police officers confiscated about $300,000 in marijuana at a grow house in The Falls on Tuesday, arresting one suspect while a second man escaped on foot.

Miguel Leonard-Hernandez, 38, was taken into custody near the house at 9745 SW 144th St, where police say the pair were hydroponically growing 75 marijuana plants totaling 80 pounds.

Leonard-Hernandez and an unknown white male ran from police when officers arrived at the house, jumping over fences in neighboring yards in an effort to escape. Though Leonard-Hernandez was apprehended by officers and K-9, the other suspect remains at large.

The bust was made based on a tip to Crime Stoppers, according to the police report. Investigators also discovered the growers were diverting power from Florida Power and Light "without their knowledge and consent," stealing approximately $1,500 of electricity.

One nearby resident told NBC Miami she was “shocked” by what was happening in her neighborhood, but college students in the area were not surprised (go figure).
