Medsker Family Of Three Vanishes From Michigan, Missing For Four Weeks (UPDATED)

Michigan Family Of Three Vanishes, Missing For Four Weeks (UPDATED)

Timothy and Sabrina Medsker, along with their 4-month-old son Joshua, disappeared nearly a month ago and investigators in northern Michigan still have no solid leads in the case.

UPDATE: Authorities have called off the search for the Medsker family because they have made contact with family members, police said.

"They are fine," Petoskey Director of Public Safety John Calabrese told MSNBC.com Wednesday afternoon. "We know they were not vacationing, but we don't know what their motivation was for leaving."

No further details have been made available.

EARLIER:

The family, who lives in Petoskey, a coastal resort community on the southeast shore of the Little Traverse Bay of Lake Michigan, was last seen on Feb. 12. Concerned relatives reported them missing to police on Feb. 23.

"This is 100 percent out of character and very concerning," Timothy Medsker's sister, Kelly Manthei, told ABC's "Good Morning America" on Wednesday.

Authorities do not suspect foul play in the case, but admit they are stumped by the couple's sudden and unexplained disappearance.

"There's nothing in the home that looks like a crime scene," Petoskey Department of Public Safety Det. David Schultz told FoxNews.com.

"But something scared them enough to leave in a hurry," he said. "It looked like they packed up and left in a hurry."

Timothy Medsker, 33, and Sabrina, 34, had no known enemies in the community. Their finances -- the couple owns a successful commercial cleaning business -- are also in order, police said.

Petoskey Director of Public Safety John Calabrese told the Orlando Sentinel that Timothy Medsker was a hard worker and often logged 70 to 80 hours a week.

"He was never late. He never missed a work appointment," Calabrese said.

Police have searched the Medskers' home twice, but have yet to find any clues suggesting what might have happened to the family.

The case is eerily similar to the Feb. 4, 2010 disappearance of the McStay family in California. In that case, Joseph and Summer McStay, along with their two boys Gianni, 4, and Joey, 3, disappeared without a trace. Four days later their car was found abandoned near Tijuana, Mexico. The case remains unsolved.

In regard to the Medskers, police believe they are traveling in a 2010 Ford F-150 silver pickup truck with a license plate of BXC0359. They reportedly have ties to Orlando, Fla., Chicago, Ill., Gary, Ind., and Arizona.

"We are so worried about you and Sabrina and Joshua we love you. Please just let somebody know that you're ok," Timothy Medsker's mother, Laura Medsker, said on "Good Morning America."

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the family is asked to contact the Petoskey Department of Public Safety at 231-347-2500.
