Elisabeth Moss: Fred Armisen Is Best At Impersonating A 'Normal Person'

Fred Armisen Elisabeth Moss

Elisabeth Moss has remained tight-lipped on her divorce from from "Saturday Night Live" comedian Fred Armisen, which was finalized in May 2011.

But almost a year after their split, the "Mad Men" star is finally opening up about what it was like to be married to the funny man, best known for his impersonations of Barack Obama, Muammar Gaddafi, and "The View" host Joy Behar.

"One of the greatest things I heard someone say about him is, 'He's so great at doing impersonations. But the greatest impersonation he does is that of a normal person,'" the 29-year-old actress admitted to The New York Post‘s Page Six magazine recently. "To me, that sums it up."

"I've never told anyone that," Moss revealed. "And I don't want to waste any more of my life talking about it." According to Moss, the pair no longer speak.

The actress added that although she eventually wants to find "someone to grow old with," at the moment, she's happy being single and enjoying her youth. "It's fun to go out at night and not know what's going to happen," she said. "I'm addicted to and obsessed with my freedom in that sense. I'm having fun!"

The former couple married in October 2009 and split in May 2010. Less than a week after their split, Armisen was reportedly dating SNL co-star Abby Elliott . His relationship with Elliott ended in September 2011 and four months later, Armisen told The New Yorker that he tended to treat "romantic relationships in a cold way."

What does it say about her if she married someone she didn't even know, and then claims he was not normal? Girl, learn a thing or two about people before you marry them. I'm with others who've said her "religion" (cult) is too bizarre. When are they going to build a space ship and blast off into outer space?

I am fairly sure she was hinting that he was a sociopath. Sociopaths are typically described as "impersonating normal".

Not that he goes around killing people - he just probably has no emotions, but he knows how to make people laugh. Con artists are just as much sociopaths as your average Ted Bundy.

You all saying, "Oooooooh says the Scientologist!" seems a tad irrelevant, especially when someone can just as easily say, "Oooooh says the virgin birth believer!"

Portlandia isn't even that funny.

Scientologist accuses man of not being "normal".

Man accepts compliment.

Whatever he was like, to go public with a statement like that reveals a lot of anger. It's hard not to assume that was there before and influenced the relationship.

Someone who follows Scientology talking about what's normal is , um, interesting and confusing.I feel like Scientology is just about money and aliens. I support religious freedom, I just feel It's more of a cult than a religion. I keep hearing that was part of the reason they split up because he wasn't into it (smart man)

Most of them don't know it's about aliens. Most Scientologists never get to that level (OT 3) to find out - and for those that do - many of them quietly phase out of the "religion," trying not to attract attention so they won't be labeled a "suppressive person" and lose all the relationships they have with friends and families still in the cult.

The "church" justifies their financial standpoint of paying for "enlightenment" by saying that just giving enlightenment away is a disservice as if it is free, you will always feel beholden to the church for giving something so valuable to you for free. They believe it will make you happier if you pay for it, so you owe them nothing. Unless you can't pay - then they own you.

Sometimes. He's hit or miss. He used to do a great Obama. Now he doesn't even try. Which sucks because Jay Pharaoh does a spot on impression, but there is no way Lorne will take Obama from Fred. He's been there too long.

She should have kept the promise she made to herself not to talk about Fred and their divorce. Fred is a comedian, an artist, creative, what gave her the idea he would ever be normal? Ding dong, no one home.

uh.....this says alot about HER actually.........who wants a "normal person".........knowing what she was getting into but NOW she's addicted to being single and the freedom that comes with it............and my father is seriously asking me (his 30 year old single son) why in the H I'm not married and haven't produced any grandchildren.....well.....i'm sure it goes both ways for guys and gals....but it's scary to think you'll find that person that is 'great' for you but then something like this happens.......almost depressing......very strange world indeed......it's the furthest thing from the black and white "Leave it to Beaver" family gig we all grew up thinking.......:p

On one hand we have the e-meter reader and on the other we have the laugh line reader and on both sides, the age old problem of actors marrying actors; they both tend to be narcissists. I go for the laugh, says one. I go for thetan blockers says the other. At one point the scientologist and the not so funny man convinced each other that they led each other. Then she realized he was not CLEAR - and he realized she was NOT FUNNY. Page turn

I loved Elizabeth Moss in the Excedrin commercial. When she said she had a headache, I really believed it.

As long as he keeps on making Portlandia... the best sketch comedy in the past 2yrs, I'll take abnormal. He's hilarious.
