Moment I Knew

First Posted: 03/ 9/2012 7:32 am Updated: 03/14/2012 10:55 am

At HuffPost, we're kicking off an exciting new project and we'd love you to participate! It's called "The Moment I Knew," and is a user-submitted video series where readers tell the stories of life-changing moments they have experienced. Each section of HuffPost has chosen a different theme -- whether it was the moment you knew you wanted to marry your spouse, the moment you knew your marriage was over, the moment you knew you loved college, or the moment you knew you were broke. You can also tell us about any other life-defining moment you'd like to share. The possibilities are endless!

Here on HuffPost Healthy Living, we've suggested that you tell us about "The Moment I Knew I Had To Lose Weight." For many, losing weight is a lifelong struggle, but we find these moments of realization particularly motivating and inspiring for anyone looking to slim down.

It's really easy to contribute! You can create your video using YouTube or Vimeo and send the link/URL of the video to themomentiknew@huffingtonpost.com. If you create your video using your laptop or mobile phone and have a video file, please attach the file in an email to themomentiknew@huffingtonpost.com.

Your video submission is subject to our User Terms. Please make sure to include your full name with your video submission. Each video should be 30-60 seconds long, and should feature only you, speaking right into the camera telling your story. Please start your story with the words "The moment I knew..."

We can't wait to hear from you! And if you have any questions, please email themomentiknew@huffingtonpost.com.

Losing weight is nothing more than a day to day process, calories out > calories in. One day at a time. Worry about Wednesday on Wednesday, Thursday on Thursday and don't let the big picture deter you. A little momentum can go a long way, and turn into a lot of momentum.

loosing weight is about you taking resposability for what and how much you eat. I was always thin, but always controled my diet, one day I decided to eat whatever and as much I wanted and went up from a size 2 to a 12 in 6 months.Lesson learned still sliming down at a size 6 now but working very hard, some cardio, yard work and walks with the dogs. Never again I will be over 150 lbs.

With improved surgical techniques, the number of people who give way to the operating room are more and more. http://www.healthyhair-tips.com/?cat=135. Although many men who also care about their appearance, women still lead the list of surgeons.

OK, great. You've decided to make positive changes and change your diet. Since you'll be taking in far more fruits and veggies, it's also a good time to educate yourself about what produce is safe to buy non-organically and which ones you really should only buy the organic version of. Here's a handy list that I use all the time. They also offer a free app for your phone so you can use it in the supermarket.

Wow, people are NASTY in their comments. Big food in America is actively working to make food addicts.
Tastes are engineered in labs with chemicals to tempt the tase buds. Because of government subsidies to corn farmers, the glut of corn is converted to high- fructose corn syrup and added to every processed food in the country. High- fructose corn syrup is like poison for the human metabolism.
Fuits and vegetables are biologically or genetically engineered for long ditance travel at the expense of nutrition. They're grown by monoculture from depleted soil and picked before truly ripe.
The obese are really malnourished but addicted to frankenfoods developed specifically to ensnare them.

I applaud anyone who decides to try and change something that they know is bad for them, not that my opinion matters in the least, or should.

But --correct me if I am wrong-- aren't the photos of a different man than the video? What happened to HIS story?

So many people on here are so cruel, its very disheartening. We all struggle with something in this life, our weight is just the most obvious to everyone. Good for all of these people for taking the steps to lose weight and talking about their journey!

I like to eat, too, but the minute I look in the mirror and I don't like what I am seeing then it is time to zip the mouth! I cannot understand why someone would blow up like this and just let themselves go, after all, you can control it and it does affect the health, now that is scary.

Everyone is different and while it is great for you to have such good self control when you eat, doesn't make these people any lesser than you because food is what they struggle with. People have issues with not being able to stop gambling; shopping; drinking; being on the computer etc. that can cause major problems in their lives but the difference is those people don't walk around with a sign that says "I lost my house because I couldn't stop gambling" or "My wife left me because I couldn't stop looking at internet porn" Overweight people can't hide their issue with food. People should have compassion and not be so quick to judge others.

Clearly you don't have emotional eating issues, or any other issue regarding food. You're right - 'you don't understand'. Bully for you for being so wonderful and being able to 'zip the mouth' but not everyone is you. Try some compassion - I get the feeling you're someone who makes nasty comments and snide remarks when you see an overweight person eating.

There has never been an experience that made me decide to do anything. I just decide, and succeed.
