Maurizio Cattelan's Vice Magazine Cover Censored With A Sticker

Maurizio Cattelan's Salacious Stickers For Vice

If you are taking a leisurely stroll in a metropolitan area and happen to see a sticker that reads DILDO, don't be alarmed. In fact, you may want to snap a photo of it. The DILDO stickers were placed on the most recent cover of Vice Magazine to cover up (you guessed it) a fake penis in order to adhere to US Mail regulations.

The real-life picture of a sex toy was part of a photograph by Italian art icon and trickster Maurizio Cattelan, perhaps best known for his sculpture of the Pope being hit by a meteorite. Cattelan just recently announced his retirement from art after a blockbuster Guggenheim retrospective that ran from November 2011-January 2012.

It seems the irrepressible Italian's post-retirement activities include more devilish art-making, however. The Vice cover is called "The Holy Trinity" and features a plunger, a hole puncher and the dreaded dildo in question. For your protection, the wobbly object has been tastefully covered up by a sticker reading DILDO.

The good thing about stickers, however, is they can be removed. And the great thing about them is they can be stuck elsewhere. Of course Vice readers are taking their DILDOs to the streets, placing them in some very inappropriate places. Those darn kids and their DILDO stickers... You can see Vice's top 10 findings in the piece "DILDO! DILDO! DILDO! DILDO!"

The entire raunchy cover is here. Don't say we didn't warn you, dear readers.

Do you think a fake penis is too obscene to be on a magazine cover? Let us know your thoughts below.
