Logan Theatre Renovations Complete, Set For Saturday Reopening

Logan Theatre Renovations Complete, Set For Reopening

Chicago's Logan Theatre has announced its "soft" reopening, with $1 admission, $1 popcorn and $1 fountain drinks.

The reopening is slated for Saturday, a one-day-only event that will feature a selection of four classic films -- "The Goonies," "Enter the Dragon," "The Blues Brothers" and "The Wizard of Oz" -- from which to choose.

The evening begins with the first of three screenings of "The Wizard of Oz" at 10:30 a.m. at 2646 N. Milwaukee Ave. No RSVP to the event is necessary but the theater is urging interested attendees to arrive early as space is limited.

Time Out Chicago reports that the century-old theater, closed for renovations since last September, will offer a mix of "first-run Hollywood blockbusters and independents, occasional throwbacks, classics" and family-friendly fare at $7 per ticket for evening screenings and $5.50 apiece for matinees and children going forward after the Monday event. It will also newly feature a full bar.

In preparation for the Logan's re-opening, watch the theatrical trailer of "The Goonies" which, of course, featured Steppenwolf ensemble member Martha Plimpton in her breakout role:
