Julianna Margulies Talks About Matthew Perry Joining 'The Good Wife' On 'Anderson' (VIDEO)

How Julianna Margulies Recruited Matthew Perry To Join 'The Good Wife'

On the same day that CBS announced they had renewed 18 of their shows, including the critical darling "The Good Wife," series star Julianna Margulies appeared on "Anderson" (Weeknights, 4 p.m. ET on Fox). She discussed how she helped orchestrate Matthew Perry jumping on board the legal drama for an eight episode run.

All it took was Perry telling her he was interested. The two bumped into one another at a Halloween party, and Perry told her "The Good Wife" was his favorite show, and that he'd love the chance to be on it. It's probably something actors hear a lot from fellow actors, but they don't always mean it.

But Margulies immediately pounced on the idea. "If you say that, I will do something about it, so are you sure?" she asked him. And when he said he was, the very next day she was on the phone with the show's producers helping to make it happen, slotting Perry into a role they were already developing.

She said it took him about three days to get back into the rhythm of the long shooting hours that come with a weekly series, but he settled back in nicely. Fans can look forward to Perry's first appearance on the episode airing Sunday, March 25.

Julianna Margulies stars in "The Good Wife," airing at 9 p.m. Sundays on CBS. "Anderson" is syndicated nationally. Check local listings for channel and time.
