LOS ANGELES — A collection of never-before-seen photos of Marilyn Monroe – and their accompanying copyrights – are going up for auction.
Celebrity auctioneer Darren Julien says more than 100 images of Monroe will be sold the highest bidders later this month.
The photos come from the estate of Allan "Whitey" Snyder, Monroe's personal makeup artist for 15 years. One image shows Snyder applying makeup to a lingerie-wearing Monroe on the set of "Let's Make Love" in 1960.
Letters, telegrams and a money clip from Monroe to Snyder are also among the lots set to be sold during Julien's Auctions' Hollywood Legends sale on March 31 and April 1. The auction also includes memorabilia from Frank Sinatra, James Dean, Charlie Chaplin and Sammy Davis, Jr.

You must be very young. Marilyn was so much more than "a part of pop culture." I believe people cared greatly both then and now, but perhaps for the wrong reasons.
Sweet, beautiful Marilyn remains both a mystery and an American tragedy.
lillibelle: You must be very young. Marilyn was so much more
Maybe quite a few care now, and maybe more than quite a few cared then. Apparently you do not. To those of us who care(d) about Marilyn Monroe then and now, your opinion is a matter of indifference. Your opinion: does anybody really care now? Did anybody really care then?
fjpoblam: Maybe quite a few care now, and maybe more than
Marilyn was a lovely girl and I believe, much more intelligent and gifted than believed. I'm sorry
she got such a bad start in life. It followed her....but, to be able to go in front of millions of people and perform as she did! I don't think she knew just what she had accomplished. Perhaps today she could have gotten the help she needed. I think she felt used and abused.
friendlypersuasion: Marilyn was a lovely girl and I believe, much more
Before Anna Nicole Smith, Kim Kadashian, and J Lo, there was Marilyn Monroe. A woman who was more famous for her sex appeal and who she was dating than what little talent she actually had.
Isn't history great. Someone can sit and scrub this woman's image clean despite the fact that she was a drug addict. Drug of choice...Perscription drugs.
privategirl: Before Anna Nicole Smith, Kim Kadashian, and J Lo, there
MM is one of the true legends, her career was relative short, yet she is still front page news, almost 50 years afrte her death. Many of her contempories are long since forgotten.

Yes, you are right. Jacqueline was much more classy and beautiful. But remember, Jacqueline had the family connections and education avalable to her to become the person she was. For some reason, Marilyn Monroe felt compelled to use her beauty and sexuality to gain acceptance. No one will be the incon and excellent American that Jacqueline Kennedy was...however, she had her problems, too. I think her sister helped her through those issues. Marilyn did not seem to have any family. She seemed to always feel alone...no mother or father...just an adoring public. Sad really.
friendlypersuasion: Yes, you are right. Jacqueline was much more classy and
jacqueline kennedy was not only more beautiful then marilyn she was also a very smart woman ...she knew eleven different languages, keep her life private, and had class! unlike this v(a)mp who just tried to steal married men away...and made it obvious while doing it. haaapppy biirrthddaay mr. pressident.. hahaha...joke

Nonoe you knew niether of these women except what you are allowed to read and what other speculate upon. So please!!!!
Stop being silly and be a fool!!!
Americanwoman55: You have no idea what you are talking about !!
The women of the 50's and early 60's seem to have had the best bodies. They were all-natural with no implants and plastic-surgery. Another perfect example of that and arguably the hottest woman on the planet...Barbara Eden! (I would throw Raquel Welch in there too). She was so hot that her hotness lasted at least 3 decades.
She was still hot even after having a baby. I had no clue until eons later that she was pregnant while on the first season of I Dream of Jeannie. Shot in black and white, the vale covered her stomach.
It's still hard for me to chose between the three, but I guess since I watched just about every episode and her appearance on I Love Lucy and The Andy Griffith Show, the edge goes to Barbara Eden. When I really think hard about it, Marilyn would be second by a hair.
Well_Informed: The women of the 50's and early 60's seem to
Yes I agree Sophia Loren was hot too. She still looks good, at least from the last pic I saw of her a few years ago. I did consider mentioning her. I can't explain it, but Barbara Eden just does it for me.
Hmmmmm, maybe it was her role as Jeannie that really pushed it over the top. I don't know one straight male that didn't go nuts for her in that role. As a matter of fact as embarrassing as it is to admit, I still feel the same as the first time I saw the episodes.
Well_Informed: Yes I agree Sophia Loren was hot too. She still
I don't understand how Jennifer Aniston was rated number one, beating Marilyn Manroe!!! How in the world is that possible? Marilyn was a natural beauty that you do not find these days in celebrities!!
ns1478: I don't understand how Jennifer Aniston was rated number one,
Absolutely beautiful woman. Too bad she would be considered too fat nowadays, especially if you put her next to some of the freakish women with big heads and concentration camp-style bodies. It's a shame that we, as women, have changed what we want to look like. I don't know if there is a man alive who would say that Marilyn is anything but knock-your-socks-off gorgeous. Yeah, I'd love to look like that! I'd never want to look like most of the celebrities of today with their big bubble lips and huge misshapen heads (in relation to their bodies). Some of them look like malnourished little boys dressed up as women.
margarita518054: Absolutely beautiful woman. Too bad she would be considered too
I agree. Marilyn was so pretty. In comparison, Angelina Jolie looks bizarre...huge head, stick body...and he is supposed to be one of the most beautiful women in the world. Scary.
Mercgal: I agree. Marilyn was so pretty. In comparison, Angelina Jolie
