Rock And Roll Marathon 2012 To Run Through, Cut Off D.C. Neighborhoods

WASHINGTON -- If you're planning on trying to get around town on Saturday, beware: A marathon might block your route.

Unlike most major races in D.C. which often stick to the city's monumental core, parkways and other precincts away from D.C.'s dense central residential neighborhoods, the Rock and Roll Marathon plans a "scenic journey through our Nation's capital."

There are two routes: one for the full marathon, the second for a half-marathon. Neighborhoods like Dupont Circle, Columbia Heights, Bloomingdale, Capitol Hill will be either divided or cut off from other neighborhoods during parts of Saturday. The race begins at RFK Stadium at 8 a.m. and should wrap up by 2:15 p.m.

Metrobus will be adversely affected with routes being re-established as roads re-open. Bring your patience if you're heading out to brunch.
