Paula Smith, Stickatude.com Anti-Obama Sticker Seller: I'm Not Racist, Sticker Is Not Racist

The Huffington Post  |  By Posted: 03/19/2012 4:07 pm Updated: 03/19/2012 4:07 pm

Days after an anti-Obama bumper sticker went viral, the seller of another version denies that her site's product is racist.

Forbes contacted Hinesville, Ga., business owner Paula Smith, owner of Stickatude.com. Her company is featuring a $3 sticker that says "2012 Don't Re-nig!" -- the site's bestseller as of Monday afternoon.

When asked by Forbes if the sticker was racist, Hines said no, explaining that the N word is not attached to race.

“According to the dictionary [the N word] does not mean black," she said. "It means a low down, lazy, sorry, low down person. That’s what the N word means.”

Last Thursday, a photo of a similar bumper sticker reading "Don't Re-Nig In 2012" spread on Facebook. Below that line was a set of smaller text that read "Stop repeat offenders. Don't re-elect Obama!"

The first version appeared to originate from Stumpy's Stickers. But as of Friday afternoon, ABC news reported that the site's email address had been suspended. By Monday, its landing page registered a forbidden 404 error.

Smith dismissed the idea that she is a racist, telling Forbes that her goal is to get a new candidate in the White House.

"And besides Obama is not even black," Smith added. "He's got a mixture of race. It's his choice of what his nationality is. I'm a mixed breed. I call myself a Heinz 57."

Is she HIGH? I would love to see her hate mail...Unfortunately, it will only confirm that she was right for her point of view...."Freedom of speech" also means "responsibility", not the right to show your ignorance and stupidity....Paula, I salute you and all of the dinosaurs who purchased your stickers! You are a dying breed and the world will not miss you when you are gone!

Let's see. The N word doesn't pertain to a black person in her magical dictionary and Obama isn't a black man anyway. This is perhaps the most ridiculous attempt I have ever heard of a racist trying to prove she isn't racist.

Paula Smith,

Of course you are a racist! You are a liar too. Just don't have have the b*lls to admit it.
You and the other teapartiers opposition to President Obama is not politics or ideology. It's pure ole racism. Just like the southern Congressman who screamed "You lie" during the President's first State of the Union.

People have a right to self expression as long as it doesn't lead to physical or mental harm of another. Oh I forgot we are modern Americans. We are so sensitive to everything, from a child wearing a hoodie to some non dark skinned person saying the N word. You rubbed me in the wrong way, you are staring at me. I feel offended. Now, I have the right to kill you and claim self defense. America has a disease call HATE and it is spreading everywhere. This disease is worst than cancer and AIDS put together. Yet it has a cure call LOVE. Let's LOVE one another.

Being wrong about what racist commnet on the bumper sticker and what it implys is the very least of her problems.

If Santorum takes a gander at those ducks shown above the offensive Obama sticker doing what appears to be "ducking" she may be in serious trouble with her probable political sympathiezers. What is bad for the goose is bad for the gander,

She's not using the Oxford English Dictionary:
noun
offensive
a contemptuous term for a black person.

or Mirriam Websters:

1 usually offensive; see usage paragraph below : a black person
2 usually offensive; see usage paragraph below : a member of any dark-skinned race
3 : a member of a socially disadvantaged class of persons

or maybe she's just denigrating socially disadvantaged persons? That would just be "Class War!" and not bigotry, right?

Maybe, if she wanted to apply more subtle racism, she could go with "Don't De-nigrate America in 2012!" That's got the subtle bigotry and the wrapped-in-the-flag, pseudo-patriotism that some conservatives love.

"“According to the dictionary [the N word] does not mean black," she said. "It means a low down, lazy, sorry, low down person. That’s what the N word means.”"

Look, this type of playing with words bugs me. Hiding behind the dictionary is a "context-drop" in this case.

Words have real context beyond their dictionary definition. For example, I can look up the word 'philosophy' in the dictionary, then I know what 'philosophy' means. Or I can spend the next four years in college studying philosophy, come out with a BA in the subject, and still not know what 'philosophy' means.

It helps to be right if you are going to hide behind nonsense. Her definition is in not one of seven dictionaries that i consulted. So Smith is not just a racist, but also a liar.
