A total of 382 employees, including 280 teachers, are retiring from Detroit Public Schools on July 1, taking advantage of a recent court settlement that pays teachers for banked sick time.
More than 820 DPS teachers contacted the Detroit Federation of Teachers in the last two weeks for details on the limited offer, which had a deadline of Monday.
