Jeb Bush Endorses Mitt Romney For President

Posted: 03/21/2012 10:40 am Updated: 03/21/2012 11:50 am

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) is endorsing Mitt Romney for president, according to ABC News.

Bush, the brother of the 43rd president, called Romney Wednesday morning to tell him about his plans.

Here is his full statement from the Tampa Bay Times:

Congratulations to Governor Mitt Romney on his win last night and to all the candidates for a hard fought, thoughtful debate and primary season. Primary elections have been held in thirty-four states, and now is the time for Republicans to unite behind Governor Romney and take our message of fiscal conservatism and job creation to all voters this fall. I am endorsing Mitt Romney for our Party’s nomination. We face huge challenges, and we need a leader who understands the economy, recognizes more government regulation is not the answer, believes in entrepreneurial capitalism and works to ensure that all Americans have the opportunity to succeed.

Bush joins his father, former President George H.W. Bush, in backing Romney.

The New York Times reported in January that Romney had made substantial efforts to win over Bush's endorsement. The former governor stayed neutral before his state's primary, which Romney won handily.

Bush's call for unity parallel's Romney's, who urged the party to unite behind him after his Illinois win. Rick Santorum, Ron Paul and Newt Gingrich, however, have vowed to stay in the race.

Gingrich's spokesman, R.C. Hammond, dismissed the endorsement. "It's the completion of the establishment trifecta," he reportedly said, referring to Bush's father and former Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole (R-Kan.)

Romney reacted to the endorsement on Twitter:

So if Jeb Bush feels threatened by Rick Santorum, Jeb's law would allow him to legally kill Santorum?

I bet it won't be the first time one of these GOP males has Santorum on his hands.

All that's missing in that stance is a black mask and cape with the phrase, "Quick, Boy Wonder! To the batmobile!" He has a kind of Adam West look about him.

Mittens was married on HIS birthday?
He's so self centered, that's the only way he could remember his anniversary. wow. sad.
He prolly stuck her in a gift box too....
ok, I don't like where my mind is taking this....
Whatever, he won by default and I'm just wondering if he'll actually break his arm, patting himself on the back. At least it will prove he's not the second coming.

K.O.D

Kiss of death! ....................anything endorsed by a Bush needs serious study, the last two with executive powers led the world into two wars, helped ruin the economies of a half the worlds nations and certainly in the case of Jed's bro, did irreparable harm to the English dictionary.

Letter to President Obama from a United States of America War Veteran and his family:
Dear Mr. Obama,
Thank You for not going to Arlington National Cemetary on Memorial day.
There is something very sacred about that place and about that day.
Those who bled and died for this country deserve to be honered and saluted by people who love their country and honor their sacrifice.
You don't belong there.
Thank You for realizing that and going to Chicago.
Not Racist or Violent.... Just not silent any more!!
I will not give the mans name to be attacked and critizied by people who dislike this letter, he deserves respect and honor. Thank You Sir for your service to this Great Naton!!

Dear President Obama from a Veteran with a disability,
Thank you SO much for confiscating the paper shredders at the VA Admin.
After many years of denied claims while my health continued to decline, I'm finally getting the help I've needed for so very long.
Thank you also for doing what you can to keep other veterans from being used as fodder for the conservative agenda.
When you said you cared about us, you acknowledged the fact that one troop sent, takes his/her whole family with them, and that you would be more careful with our lives than leaders have been in the past. We also know and appreciate that you had less to do with those buried at Arlington than those before you.
Thank you for working towards peace and helping this crippled nation back on it's feet.
With you at the helm, I believe we might become a great nation again...almost as great as our national marketing advertises!
On behalf of the multitudes of suffering veterans who didn't get to die for their country,
Thank you again, Mr. President, there IS hope for us, now.

If you served our Country in uniform, then I thank you for your service.
I am also thankfull you are on HP and not in Arlington.
If you served your Country that means you must have cared enough for it to serve.
When the National Anthum is played do you put your hand over your heart and stand at attention?
Do you honor those that served before you and died for the rights that you and I and the rest of this country enjoy today?
So should the President of the United States!!!
Death is the final act a soldier can give to his or her Country.
I'm in no means over looking the great men and women who served an are now our wounded veterans, They should recieve all they need for all they have done and given up.
On Memorial Day our President Should have been at Arlington. The people there fought for your freedom to disagree with me and fought under the Red White and Blue Flag.
Many, Many Presidents before Obama was great men .It saddens me how you so casually over looked that post.
